    Has anyone registered with Amazon.com?

    How was it?

We did - to save our guests on shipping costs and to get a wide range of items on our registry. (We also registered at Crate and Barrel since they have the dishware I've wanted for ages). It was fine - a little overwhelming since you can get practically anything on Amazon. But most of our guests have bought our gifts from there, so far - I think the free shipping thing is really appealing to them. And, the prices are generally lower than elsewhere.

It's a different experience than registering online at say, Macy's. You can't just go into the "housewares" section, then go to "small appliances" and pick from what's listed. Instead, you basically have to search for a specific item (brand, model, etc.). You should just kind of go in with a pretty good idea of what you want to register for - and then do some research on what is available within that category. The good thing is they have user reviews, and the "other people who bought this item also bought" feature, so you can see related items and build your list that way.

It's cool that you can put a big variety on your list though, like we have everything from baking pans to a tent! (I'm sure some people will think that is tacky, like putting a TV on there, but oh well.)

Doing the actual registering is no problem, you just have to set up a registry first (like any other store). Then you search for an item, and if you like it, you click "add to wedding registry" and it goes in. You can even specify the priority of each item, so your guests know if it would be "nice to have" or if you would "like to have" or "love to have" it.

Bonus - we linked through the I Do Foundation (www.idofoundation.org) so that purchases off of our amazon registry earn 4% toward charities we've chosen.

One negative is that there is no 'completion discount', so you don't get 10% off if you want to purchase the items after your wedding.

That's all i can really think of right now. Hope that helps!

I am doing my registry through myregistry.com, thanks to a Bee recommendation!  Anything that you find online can be put on the registry.  There is even a way for your guests to give cash gifts.  It's super easy to use too.
