Long time lurker/stalker, first time poster here! So a little back story before I get to the good stuff! BF and I are unofficially engaged. We have a wedding date set and venders booked, just waiting on the ring! Definitely untraditional, but it’s just how it worked out. I’ve been obsessively reading posts and researching for several months now and when I came across moissanite on this board, I knew it would be the perfect choice for us! BF was down with it after a little hesitation and a little more convincing from me. We decided to go to local jewelers to look at settings and try to find someone who would work with a moissy. The first place we went to said that they would! Wonderful! After a few more stops at other stores and some rude comments, we went back to the first store and I found a setting I fell in love with. I really wanted an Amora and I figured I could hold out and wait until they had them back in production. Well time passed and passed again and still no luck. I put my name on both moissaniteco and betterthandiamond’s waiting list. I even had some customizations made on my setting and it had already been finished and paid for… just sitting in the jewelry store.
I pretty much gave up on waiting, so Monday we ordered a Forever Brilliant… and crazy enough, the very next day I got the email from betterthandiamond that my Amora was ready for purchase. So we ordered that one too! lol I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to compare the two! The FB came in first. It’s beautiful! Definitely some yellow at times, but the sparkle is beautiful! I took it over to my parents’ to compare it with my mom’s diamond and there is definitely a difference in how they “sparkle” as expected. That was no surprise to me. I had done enough research to know what I would see. But it really was even more sparkly than I had imagined… which to me, was a good thing! Because of the faint yellowish tint, I was even more anxious to see the Amora, as I’ve heard that recent Amoras appear yellowish too.
A few hours later, the Amora arrived (Alas!!) I immediately noticed it was whiter. I was hoping it wasn’t wishful thinking, but compared right next to the FB, it was whiter! I took some pictures because I know through all my research, pictures posted were helpful. I will say that the Amora is bright white in most light, but I can still see a tiny hint of yellow in it in under some conditions. It doesn’t bother me though, I still think it’s beautiful! We’ll be sending the FB back to moissyco. I’m bringing the Amora to the jeweler tomorrow for them to set it, sooooo there might be an engagement in the near future!!! I’ll have to try my hardest not to peek at my setting. I haven’t seen it since the customizations were finished. Since I picked it out, I wanted to wait to see the whole package when he proposes.
Ok, so these pictures were all taken in my parents’ kitchen under horrible fluorescent lighting with my iPhone camera…which tends to cast blue lighting in photos. Probably not the best pictures, but it does show a difference between the two. It does NOT show the true beauty of the moissanite!

I did take a few more, but the moissy had a bluish tint from my camera, which looks nothing like the stone did IRL. I’ll see if I can get some better pics tomorrow… hopefully we’ll have some sun! Sorry my post ran so long!! But I hope I can help out for anyone debating between the two!
