Hello bees! I'm new to the boards and I have a question. I LOVE the Amy Michelson "Love me Tender" dress, but it is out of my price range ($2,000). Do any of you know if there are any dresses out there that might be comparable? I love the lace bodice and simple flowy skirt. I'm not sure I've seen any other dress that looks similar while looking online. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!!!

What about these dresses by Maggie Sottero?  The skirts look fuller, but I bet if you didn't have a full slip underneath they may lay a little more relaxed...

Is the dress only $2000, or $2000 over your budget? I'd be surprised if it's the first because AM dresses are usually higher, and that's an awesome dress! I tried on some of hers and then the week after I bought my dress I saw this pic and my heart skipped a beat...I was thinking damn!

Style-wise I'm sure you'd find similar stuff. But there's something about her fabrics and the soft, flowiness of her dresses I haven't seen in other designers. You may want to go try it on at a store and see what you think. And if it's only $2K, get it and sell it later, lol! If I saw it on a used site for $2K I'd buy it right now as a reception dress. Of course that won't happen since the dress just came out...

Btw I also tried the Claudette dress Blueshoes2 suggested. Sometimes I feel like I've tried on every dress under the sun :)

I realized after I posted that it looked like the AM dress was $2,000. That's my budget. I haven't seen the dress IRL, but looking at what her other dresses go for, I'm guessing Love me Tender is at least twice my budget and probably more. LOL.

I found my Amy Michelson dress on Ebay for $400.  No joke.  Try there!

u can haggle with the price. tell them its out of your budget and tell them that you have your heart set on that dress. or call other dress shops that carry that designer and tell them you want to buy it and have them give u the price.

just to let you know that you will see different retail prices for the same dress and the shop is willing to work with you because in the end they need to make that sale.

Miss Vintage- I'm definately going to keep up the search on Ebay and used sites. I have a lot of time so I don't need to commit too soon. If it turns out that I really love the gown, hopefully I can find a way to make it happen. =)

Quenepa Lychee-That's really good to know. If I can find a shop that's willing to work with me, that would be amazing! I'm going to do some dress shopping this weekend, so we'll see how it goes.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

they all do. i used to be a sales person at a bridal salon, 3 different ones. all they same thing. even at kleinfields in nyc.

btw. when you do purchase a dress they only need half or less than half to place the order on your dress and you pay the rest when it comes in. which is usually 3 months or less

Have you looked at any Mikaella or Paloma Blanca dresses? They are gorgeous and might have something you're looking for. They're definitely in your price range, too.

@dance247 I was going to suggest Paloma Blanca too. In the past I've seen them carry similar styles with the lace on top and the plain skirt. There was one in particular I was thinking of, but I can't find it on their site.

A few that are on the Paloma Blanca website, but the skirts aren't the same material: 3951, 3905, 3608

Btw, the Amy Michelson dress is gorgeous
