My boyfriend proposed about three hours ago!!! He had me convinced that it wouldn’t happen until next year, so he caught me off guard.
Today is the eighth anniversary of when we first officially met. We had been in a school play together and had sort of met at the cast party when my BFF, also a good friend of Mr. Moon’s, stole my shoe, and Mr. Moon helped him hide it. We didn’t talk, though, so it wasn’t until about a month later when my BFF invited us both to the mall to go ice skating that we really learned each other’s names and talked and stuff. We hit it off that afternoon. My mom picked me up at the end of the day and talked to the group a little bit before we left. On our way out, she said, “You know that tall boy with the dark, curly hair? He likes you.” So that was the beginning.
Anyway, today he took me back to the ice rink at the mall. My BFF (now Mr. Moon’s roommate) also came. The mall was RIDICULOUSLY crowded, and the line was about a light-year long. We started waiting, and I said that we had come to the mall, and that was nice… We didn’t actually have to wait to go skating, did we? He thought about it but said that since we had driven all the way out there, we might as well.
We finally got through the line and got on the ice. I’m terrible, but my fiance (I LOVE using that word) plays hockey, so he kept me from falling. It was hard because there were people EVERYWHERE, and we had to keep dodging kids and people who wiped out in front of us. After we went around the circle a few times, he pulled me to the side and said, “It was here that it first started eight years ago. What a beginning it was. I had no idea that I was meeting the love of my life. It was a good beginning.” He said some other stuff after that, but I don’t remember what it was. Then he said he had a question for me, reached into his pocket, and got down on his knee. Of course, I said yes!
My BFF was there to capture the whole thing on camera. It really was just perfect.

Thank you! I just couldn’t be happier. My face is starting to hurt from smiling so much.
I love my ring, too. It’s so unique. He said that he knows it’s not really like the solitaire styles I had been looking at, but he thought it was something I would like anyway. He said he chose this one because it was gorgeous and a little bit different, just like me.
He did end up going for diamonds, which surprised me, since I thought I would end up with a sapphire or aquamarine. He made sure they were conflict free, though, so I’m happy (and I know that not all conflict-free diamonds are actually like that, but I don’t think he does, and I already have the ring now, so please no comments about that).
I’m just so happy. I can’t wait to marry him. He’s the love of my life. <3

Thanks, everyone! I’m so happy.
I just talked to my mom. She’s going to fly down sometime in January to visit. I think she’s going to bring her own wedding dress and accessories to look at and see if I want to use any of it, and even if not, we’re going to get to start dress shopping and planning. I told her that I can’t do this without her.
