SO has the ring since Monday, and I haven’t even seen it yet. (I was tempted to peek but managed to resist.. after all I was the one to choose it and he said it’s even prettier than in the photo)
I also know for sure that he’s not going to propose this week because he has a deadline on Sunday and he has been super busy all week and working late every day. He barely has any time for me, let alone to plan surprises!
I’m a little sad because this weekend we’re going to our parents’ and it would have been nice to announce it to everyone in person, but there’s nothing I can do about it.
At least the extra time will allow my engagement present to arrive as well. I bought matching metal keyrings with “grow old with me” and the approximate date Halley’s comet will be visible. We were born in 1986, which is when it was last seen, and that will make us 75 on that day. (A bit sappy, I know)
Now have to try my best to keep myself occupied and patient.
How are you all coping?

No ring in sight for me but I am impressed you are keeping your cool. I would be bouncing off the walls. Well done for not sneaking a peak. Is there anyway that your FI to be is using work as an excuse to actually plan something? It is a shame about seeing your family this weekend and not having something to announce, but you never know, maybe they will be part of the proposal.
I also just wanted to say that your keyring idea is AMAZING, yes, sappy as hell, but so unique and special . I bet you can just picture yourself when you are 75 looking at those keyrings! 🙂 I assume that you will be focusing your time on keeping your nails nice and pampering yourself etc, as most bees seem to do when an proposal is close. Can’t wait to hear your proposal story and of course see pics! Good luck!!!!

@MsBeer: I don’t think so. They’re working on a tough paper, and his boss actually spent the night at the office yesterday, because of it.
Oh well it’s not like our families live far away, it’s less than a two hour drive, but we don’t visit very often.
I might actually end up keeping my hands and nails perfectly manicured until the end of the year. ‘Soon’ to him probably means ‘within our end of 2013 timeline’.
I don’t even know where all this zen comes from..

@turante: HA HA wel, well done you on the zen, it is something I will never master. I hope he doesn’t keep you hanging on too long! At least, when it does happen you can arrange to see your family and see them pretty soon! 🙂 I hope he doesn’t keep you hanging too long, soon means a few hours/ days to women, but to men, meh, a year? 5 years? ha ha.
