BUDGET!  rings, florist, dress, choose bridal party, get dresses for bms, tuxes, invitations, save the dates if you’re doing them..

right now I am assembling invites, only because I’m crazy and want to get them done so I don’t need to worry about anything but dropping them in the mail come August.

i’m an october 10th bee and the only things i have left:

my florist

my cake

what i did:

venue….although i picked an easy venue – all inclusive type of thing that comes with wedding coordinator, DJ, caterer.

i finally narrowed down and hired my photographer.

i found my dress and ordered it, picked a BM dress and set a deadline for them to order it. and picked the tuxes

i’ve deigned my own centerpieces, and talked with a florist ab making my vision a reality, i just have to have a consultation with her and negotiate a budget.

my cake….ah jeez i dunno how to pick a style, there so many beautiful cakes out there.

after that my weding coordinator will remind me of things i need to establish – menu, etc

i’m sending my invites out august 1st, and will start calling/pestering people sept. 20th for an RSVP b.c my final headcount is due sept. 25th

i already worked with a girl on etsy to design my BMs jewelry, as that’s their gift..and a few extras.

as for my invites…i went cheapo on those, bc i felt like thats def. not the most important part i mean i jsut see it as something ppl throw away so dont judge me – i got them at michaels, just simple ivory with chocolate brown border.

ummmm i think that’s all! sounds exhausting just typing it

I agree– get that budget locked down.

I’m a bit of a type A personality so I have a lot done already but good to hear you have the venue and photos– those were the 2 things I tackled first too and are very important!

Next get on the attire– dress, BMs, tuxes etc. Has your bridal party been asked?

Do you have your theme or colors chosen yet? Once you have that, invites and other details will fall into place and the theme will all come together. I did my invites myself and got them through target. Centerpieces too I did on my own as well as BMs gifts.

If you’re planning on save the dates, do them this month for sure!

Do you have your officient?? If not, that’s probably a priority. Start to think about a timeline for the whole day.

@lisaberry: So exciting. Welcome to October!

It sounds like you have a pretty good hold of things already. I understand the difference throwing you off (I just started in a new department at work so I have to be in 30 min earlier. It’s a small difference but my morning schedule is all off) but you’ll figure it out fast!

My only suggestions would be to look at dresses soon because if you need to order it or need a lot of alteration that might take longer than you think. I would also try to narrow down an invitation design. You don’t necessarily have to order them now, but knowing what you want and like will make it easier when you do order.

Welcome to October! It’s the best month anyway. lol. You don’t have a dress? You need to get on that, girl. Fast.

I got my dress first, then the photographer, then venue and then florist. I have invites picked out, but not ordered. I still need a DJ, a cake and an officiant, but I’m waiting until FI comes home on leave to do those because he wants to help pick them out.

Okay don’t throw anything at me but… I’ve been using the checklist and budget features on Martha Stewart’s wedding site.  I love to hate MS, but she really made things easier on me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

With the checklist, you put in your wedding date and it automatically lists when you should be doing things.  There’s the option to move items around, delete things, add stuff… real cool.

The budget thingy is neat because it keeps track of your estimated budget, what you’ve paid so far, and what you still owe.  Starts you off with a basic list of things most people pay for, then you can add/delete/rearrange!

On both, you even have the option to “assign” it to someone … yourself or your FI!  I gave my FI the link and un/pw so he can log in and see what I’ve been doing and what he should be doing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

EDIT: Oh, and as for things I’m doing now… trying to get everything that can be bought, ordered, and shipped (gifts, rings, accessories, suits, etc.).

My wedding is October 2 and here’s where I am at:

Done: Budget, Venue, Hotel Block for Guests, Dress, Guest List, Save the Dates, Ceremony Music, Photographer, Hotel for Wedding Night and lots of ideas on things I have not ordered yet.

To Do: Invitations, Bridesmaid dresses, Tuxes, Honeymoon, Reception Music (iPod playlist), Flowers, Favors, Menu and I’m sure a hundred million more things.

Get your dress, speak with a florist, pick out your cake, invites, music for the ceremony, etc.
