Finally, last night, after 9 years (yes 9 years!!) my SO announced that it’s going to happen very soon.
We have been together since we were 18 and 20, moved in together after 5 months, bought our first home at 20 and 22, second home five years ago and along the way forgot to get married. It hasn’t been a big issue for either of us, we wanted to be financially secure and established in our careers before doing anything else and we knew how we felt about each other, but this year it’s really hit me and I thought it was about time that we had The Talk.
The Talk went well and he said he never really saw it as an issue but he can understand now that I do. Last night he told me that it was going to happen very soon, he’s spoken to my Dad and he’s been researching rings, so Ladies, I am officially waiting… (and nervous and excited all at the same time!).

@ fuschiasparkles – thanks! I wonder if there is some sort of prize I can collect LOL!
@Charm bracelet – I’ll try not to stress, but every time he goes to the shops or is late coming home from work I wonder if he’s out ring shopping!

This concept of waiting is new to me –I guess I had been “waiting” a loooong time. I think we were together for 7 yrs (but my husband was only 19 when we met) before we became engaged. I would have driven myself crazy waiting for him to propose. When I hit 30, I figured we’d just be “domestic partners” or something & was fine with that. He knew no ring (wedding that is)=no kids in my book, so maybe that swayed him–I dunno.
Well I hope it happens for you and all other waiting ladies soon, but please get out of the waiting mindset (easy for me to say, I know), so that you can enjoy the lovely surprise!

Wow – 9 years! I can totally relate though to your reasons for waiting – thats why we are still waiting – we want to be financially more secure before we take that step. Although my 2.5 years pales!
Fingers crossed its nice and soon!
