5 days away and I think the universe is against us.
Yesterday we tried to drive to our ceremony site to drop off some boxes of decorations and things that I really didn’t want to have to worry about on the day of. It has been raining a lot recently but normally the road is a little muddy but still passable in the rain… Not so much the case.
We are/were plannign to get married at a cute little rustic cabin a few miles out of town. right on the river, perfectly flat lawn for our tents, perfect! The road to get to the cabin is curently entirely mud and has ruts and places that are at least knee deep if not more. WHen I called the land managers to see what was going on they said that some guy who lives at the end of the road (about another half mile up) got drunk and was driving a front end loader all over the place messing up the drainage ditches. There is no telling when it might drain.
If you saw my previous post you might know that there are two other weddings and a track meet and a large concert in town on the same day, so there are no open venues, or chairs, or rentals left. We have the tent reserved, but that is it. Everything else is booked.
Our only real options are:
1. a boy scout camp 30 miles north of hear on the lake, there is no shelter or pavilion, but we could set up the big white tent on the beach, and there is a cabin so we could use the kitchen and bathrooms there, which would be helpful. Not very open, there is a semi steep trail to get there but it is short
2. A campground that is run by our native corp. Its a bit run down but there are some pretty places, There are flat spots and picnic tables that we could use and rearrange at will. No kitchen, but there are bathrooms. Wide and open, can drive to almost anywhere in the place.
3. A public beach. we would probably have the problem of shooing people away that were not ment to be there, but it is wide and open and we have the tent. no kitchen, no bathrooms near by, but some down the street a ways. and its about a 2 min walk away from our house, so getting things there would be super fast. It is kind of close to a busy road so we would be hearing car noises all the time.
