My vow renewal is a long way off, but I enjoy talking about it because it makes me happy.
I love my much more involved my husband is this time around.
Today we were talking about cake options. I was thinking of getting a small tiered cake, so that I could put a “5” cake topper on it and get nice pictures of us cutting the cake. I know that it would be cheaper than a regular wedding cake because it will be for a small group.
We used cupcakes when we eloped and while I would like things to be different this time, I wonder if that this a smarter option for a small crowd of 30.
Do you like cupcakes or tiered cake at a wedding like event?

As a guest, I personally prefer cake to cupcakes, and as a bride, I think I’d want a cake for the same reasons you mentioned — the topper and getting to cut it. 🙂

Hahahaha fair enough. I want the cake this time so that we can have pictures. However, I am very practical so cupcakes make more sense. I think I will likely just go with the cake.
It appears that Bees feel that my posts about my vow renewal just aren’t worth responses. Maybe as I get closer to the date, I will get more opinions. I posted a thread about my venue change with only one response as well.

@TakeTwo: Oh hun, I’m sorry! I don’t think it’s that no one is interested…there’s just a lot of threads and a lot of competition for attention. 🙂 I might also recommend just paying attention to *when* you’re posting — we have members from all over the world on the site, but there’s a definite decline in traffic during the times when most North American bees are sleeping and whatnot. 😉
We had a groom’s cake at our rehearsal dinner, so we needed to be able to serve ~45 people. The bakery accommodated for that just fine and it wasn’t expensive! Especially considering specialty cupcakes can sometimes go for $2.50+ a cupcake. 🙂

A cake for our vow renewal would be cheap because it would be quite small; we are having less than 40 guests. This event needs to be a lot different than the first one…cake it is.
As for thread responses, I can’t force Bees to respond as they will post in threads that speak to them the most.

@Gemstone: I agree.
I always prefer cake to cupcakes. Plus a beautiful cake (no matter the size) is just so elegant and lovely.
