Jayceedee:  Soooo jealous! I used to live in the Bay Area, but I don’t really have any hotel suggestions. You might want to check out Sonoma county (right next to Napa) though. It’s a gorgeous area and it’s way less crowded than Napa. Hiway 29 in Napa literally gets bumper to bumper sometimes.

Jayceedee:  I usually go to Vegas in March a lot of years, but usually over the weekend.  Weekdays are cheaper, with Sun/Mon/Tues being the cheapest you can get!  Weather is usually pretty nice at that time. Weekends during the second half of March will be pricier, rooms can be way more expensive.  But there’s also a lot more action…so depends on what you’re looking for.

I really like staying at Paris for somewhere that is reasonably priced and in the center of the strip.  If you want something a bit nicer I’d stay at somewhere like Wynn, Aria, Venetian, or Bellagio.  I’d avoid excalibur/luxor because I can’t stand the smell they pump into the air (just my opinion).  I’ve never gone to the pool in March because I don’t think it’s warm enough so I probably wouldn’t take the pool into consideration if it was me.

What do you guys like to do?  food? shows? gamble? sports??

Commenting to follow! FI and I have been talking about potentially taking a short trip to Napa (or somewhere else close / in the states) for our honeymoon, and then going on a longer trip once we get more vacation time 2 months later. I would love to hear what people have to say about Napa.

Jayceedee:  We go sometimes during the NCAA tournament opening rounds (2nd to last weekend of March) and it’s by far (IMO lol) the absolute best weekend to go to Vegas all year…if you’re into that type of thing.  But that’s because I only want to watch basketball and bet on the games (parlays).  Thurs and Fri are the best days.  But you’d have to be into that type of thing.  Next two weekends after that would be busy, but not quite as exciting.  We basically spend our entire day watching basketball, going to different sportsbooks, making bets, and chatting up LOTS of people. It’s hard to get up at 7:30am in Vegas but I do it!  Hotel prices are ridiculous though $$.  Plus there is amazing food out there.
