My parents knew at 6 weeks, DH’s parents at 8 weeks. We annouced to the whole family at 11 weeks since it was Easter and then did a FB post at 14 weeks. I could have done without Facebook but DH was itching to do it.

woo hooo! almost to the second trimester!

I had every intention to let the world know at 12 weeks but for some reason it came and went and I held on to our little secret haha. of course our families knew but not extended and most of our friends had no clue. I think it was around 15 weeks when i finally bit the bullet and put it on facebook. We felt really loved and people were genuinly happy for us.

@PrncssDva- TrulyBlessed makes a really good point. You might want to wait until after your screen. I’m sure everything is perfect but just in case, then you don’t have to explain it to the world.

@PrncssDva- I thought everyone had the screening at the end of the first trimester that tested for all chromosomial abnormailities. It consists of bloodwork and an ultrasound.

I find it difficult to announce it.  I’m not the person to make big announcements. I told my boss, our company’s president, one of the consultants I work closely with, and most of my team.  Some people straight out asked me if I had news to share. Others are obviously dancing around the subject and fishing for information very subtely, but it’s awkward to bring it up this way. I’d actually rather be flat out asked at this point.

DH, on the other hand, told everyone and their mother ages ago.  A friend of DH’s came over the other day and told the story of how DH came into the restaurant where friend works a while ago.  Friend asks him “How are you doing?” and DH blurts out “AprilJo2011 is pregnant!!!!”.  Yeah, he has no problems telling people.

Congrats on almost being in the second trimester!!! What a relief, huh?

@roxy821:  The sequential screening is optional at 12 weeks. Many don’t have it!

Congrats on almost 12 weeks! That’s when we announced to the world, too. 🙂
