Did anyone send announcements after your elopement? I always dreamed of pretty invitations but now that we are basically eloping, how is announcing the elopement by card perceived ? I’m not planning to host a reception when I get home from my honeymoon or I would have a wedding to begin with, or looking for presents, as we have our homes. I would just like to avoid phone calls and Facebook and maybe insertt a few pictures to key people. Tell me what you did or plan to do, and the reaction. thanks !

I’m commenting to follow as this is my plan as well.

We got them from weddingpaperdivas.com, they came out beautifully and people were very grateful to see a few pics in there too.

I was planning on doing an elopement announcement similar to something like these
Definitely can be informative without asking for gifts or inviting to receptions

I’m planning the same. Much better than announcing on Facebook 🙂 We’re using an invitation we found online and just changing the text to begin with “Just Married! In a private ceremony…” http://myladydye.com/shop/product/shelley-collection-invitation-flat-card/

We’re not doing them. Seemed to us like we were looking for attention and gifts. We’re eloping to avoid both of those things. If people find out, it’ll be because somene else mentioned it to them.

We want to send out elopement announcements. I plan to make a nice card and maybe include a CD with photographs on it. I am also planning to have coffee table books/albums made for family and close friends – people that would appreciate it.

PS: We have been together for 5 years, have a home with everything in it and want no gifts or anything. We just want a personal way to inform everyone rather than using social media…

I would also like to make a little book of photos. Shutterfly does them and also, walgreens. And i actually think walmart. Hey,I say think cheap lol my fiance is no too keen on the idea. He says it’s like “hey, you weren’t important enough to be included buy yeah,I got married. Wanna see pictures?”

I am all for cheap, lol! I think that it is more a case of; we value your friendship and want to share a very special private moment with you…

There is a New Year’s Day card custom in the country where we live, so since we are getting married on 12/26, we plan on putting a little announcement in the card we send out. “Happy New Year! BTW, we just got married!”
