So it says im 5 weeks pregnant... i dunno if im that far soon.. seems hard to belive since we were not trying to hard 5 weeks ago compared to a few weeks but anywho thats what the prediction calculator says...

I wanna announce im preggos at Chrsitmas. My hubby and I have always givven homemade clay ornaments you can get at the craft show etc for Christmas presents . He proposed to me with an ornament, we annoucned our engagement with an ornament.. so i feel it would be fun to give his mom a ornament .

But im not finding to cute of expecting ornaments. So anyone else have any suggestions?

Also my parents recently split. I am wondering if I should wait to announce our good news or still do it?

Is there any way I can announce it special to each parent? My parents will be 1st time grandparents compared to DH parents will be 3rd since his bro had 2 kids already.

    Thanks!

You could always have a custom ornament done through etsy or something.  I'm thinking find a baby's first christmas ornament and have Christmas 2011 put on it instead of 2010.

    Congratulations on your good news!

Can you give them a small, simple ornament of a baby shoe or bottle or something? And then when they open it and figure out what it means... the look on their faces would be priceless.

I hope people don't get angry, but I am very superstitious I guess.  I would wait until you pass the 3 month mark to announce (there is reasoning behind this superstition).  I do love Oyster's idea though -a X-mas announcement would be adorable, but especially in light of your parents' split, maybe wait to Valentine's Day?  (I hate to be Debbie Downer, and I know it must be nearly impossible keeping this secret.)

Having read your other thread, I also caution you to announce your pregnancy so early.  Maybe with very close family, like parents, you would want to tell them earlier than 3 months, but I would wait until at least 8 weeks when most people hear the heart beat for the first time at the doctors.

I'd personally wait to announce my pregnancy to everyone, which DH and I did until we were about 12-13 weeks, but if you wanted to tell you parents then I would go ahead and do that (we did end up tell my mom, well she guessed, so she knew at about 7 weeks).

Anyway as far as the ornament goes, I think it is such a cute idea and has a lot of meaning to your relationship. I girl I went to college with got the cutest expecting ornament from a secret santa...it's a husband and pregnant wife and there is a little spot to be personalized beside them which has written "Merry Christmas 2010". I have no idea where this ornament is from, but I love it and would love it find it. It looks like one that you might get at those mall koisks but I haven't seen it yet. Good luck!

Here is the one I was talking about:

It's from here and they have a few other expecting mom/couple ones that you can get personalized.

I am buying this ornament for my FSIL and her husband who are expecting. You could easily use it to announce your pregnancy too! Congrats by the way!

There's a typo in the bird one.  It's "we're" not "were".

Oh, I have GOT to remember that bird one.  Once we get pregnant it would be so fun to use that line since we had a bird-themed wedding! :)

@Soon2bMrsWheeler:I just noticed something in your original post.  If the calculator says you're 5 weeks pregnant, you conceived 3 weeks ago (the first two weeks after your last menstrual period count in the calculations even though you weren't -- technically -- pregnant then).

So you probably did get pregnant "just a few weeks ago" when you were really trying.
