Word of advice: don’t try too hard. If people seem cold/rude/unfriendly in general, just be polite, diplomatic, smile and move on. You’re there to work.

PS. I would have loved some pie!

This astounds me.  Someone brought a pie into our office this morning and within fifteen minutes the entire thing had been devoured like a pack of dogs snarfing down a piece of meat.  Even the pie pan got licked clean.  By 10am there were no traces there’d even been a pie in the breakroom at all.

Try putting it in a neutral location. At my office people are more likely to take treats when they think no one is seeing them take it. I usually put goodies at an empty cubicle or on top of a cabinet and email the team that I brought it in. It is usually gone soon after. Keeping the pie at your desk may be why it wasn’t touched.

@LucyLaLa:  All I gotta say is, they do not deserve your good nature and delicious baked goods! Give them to people who will appreciate them – I FOR ONE 😀

EDIT: Like FutureMrsGhostbusters said, if you put them somewhere else, they might bite. We have them in a separate table by the window so people get up and grab a snack and look outside the window at the freedom which is so close but yet so far…before returning to their sad, gray cubicles.

Okay, I missed where you said it was at your desk. Yeah, don’t do that. Put it in the break room.

haha I also think it was the location. No matter where I worked from my earliest jobs people have always been greedy and ready to gobble up free food.

@LucyLaLa:   Well, it was a great idea – not your fault it didn’t work out.

What you could try next is individual cookies or brownies and drop one off at each desk since there’s no communal area.  Pie is more of a shared thing and since they’re seemingly anti-social folks maybe the individual-treat approach would work better.  That is, if you enjoy baking that much.  🙂

@LucyLaLa:  There’s no breakroom? LAME.
