The girl in the office next to mine is croaking, sniffling, and generally acting like she has malaria, ebola, and the flu all at once.
Interesting, though, as soon as she gets on the phone with her babysitter or husband, she can speak normally.
Can anyone else relate?

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: You wouldn’t believe how much I can relate. People in my office tend to carry on with their coughing like they’re being strangled and walk about moaning! I work in an open plan office with 42 people……GOD DO I GET WHAT YOU MEAN!!! Funnily enough they’re always okay when it’s a Friday night or on the phone. ARGHHH

Yes. Almost as annoying as manflu.

ha! Sounds like she’s planning a few sick days. 😉
One of the girls in our office with take the most random “sick” days and then be in the very next day totally fine. I’ll come right out and ask her “Were you “sick sick” or were you “fake sick”” and she always makes up a little fib to make it seem like she was really sick. When REALLY I know she was probably out shopping or doing something of the sort.

Yeah, one of my coworkers (who has quit since) did this on sunday. She always had something wrong with her. Knee hurts, cough, sniffs but when work is done all of a sudden she is fine…HMMMM….

@skyeatnight: They’re so ridiculous.
@KatyElle: Manflu! BAHAHAHAHAHA… I have to remember that.

I once had a coworker who did this all the time and I was actually kind of offended since we were sort of also friends outside of work. But I knew she wasn’t sick and she would always call out on Friday’s after acting sick all day Thursday. Or she would say it was a ‘stomach bug’ which can mean anything and you don’t have to fake congestion.
I have a coworker now who is actually sick and it’s super annoying. She’s kind of an introvert, doesn’t have any friends or family and work is literally the only thing in her life. She gets in early and stays late. She’s been coughing, sneezing, sniffling up a storm for the past two weeks. It’s really gross since I sit right across from her and have to listen to it all day.

Perhaps she is sick? Who would start faking an illness on Friday? Hmmmmm- maybe she needs to leave early?

@julies1949: Oh yes, she IS sick, but not THAT sick. She does it every time she gets a cold. People fawn over her and ask if she wants hot tea, tsk tsk that she’s here, etc. We all just ate lunch in the break room and she did it for the first half hour. She got a phone call and slipped into her normal voice on her cell phone and we all just looked at eachother.
