Not exactly the same, but since my FI and I have been together for almost 11 years, whenever we say that we have something exciting to share everyone always guesses that we are pregnant…always from the same people and we constantly have to tell them we are not having children naturally (I have fertility issues and we are adopting).

Like you, everyone seems to get very excited at the possibility of me being pregnant and so it sucks to tell them no.

The other day I needed to put my 2 weeks in at my job, so I emailed my boss to let her know there was something I needed to tell her. She came rushing into my studio and said “let me see the ring!!” AWKWARD. She went from ecstatic to really bummed out in about 1 min :/

Blehhhh. I bumped into a friend that I’ve had since childhood, and we started catching up. When she heard that I was still dating the same boyfriend from blah amount of years ago, she asked when we were getting married. At that time I was waiting and already freaking out a bit internally. But she said it with such enthusiasm that a little part of me died.

@Creiddylad:   I knew where he stood but it really didn’t make it better. It meant that I knew we were (most likely very probably) going to be engaged someday, but I had to act like I wasn’t expecting it!

@mousiegirl:  Ahhh, that is awkward!

My SO and I have been together for almost 7 years, and whenever we make plans to visit my parents or his (we don’t live very close to them anymore), they all wonder if it’s because he’s finally popped the question and we’re showing up to celebrate! My mom isn’t AT ALL subtle.. I get the “so, no ring yet?” from her allllll the time. My family loves my boyfriend, so I think some of them are just a little too eager for us to settle down and start a family. *Sigh*

When I called my mom to tell her I was graduating from my master’s program in June (I got the letter that day and called her saying “I have the best news!!”), she cut me off with “Oh gosh!! You’re engaged?! FINALLY!” Sigh. No. Just a master’s degree.
