I do a good amount of canning but so far I haven't made any jellies or jams. My grandma gave me her grandmother's jelly kettle so I am excited to carry on the tradition and be the 5th generation to make jelly in it.
Yes! I make classic canned jam, not freezer jam, but my inspiration was when I lived in Oregon for half a year! The blackberries were HUGE and everywhere. I was living in a TINY studio apartment with a good friend of mine and we spent one weekend picking blackberries and learning how to make jam. One of my favorite memories is coming home for lunch that Monday and walking in to her dancing and singing to Ella Fitzgerald and making jam, the small apartment was so warm from the canner and smelled like berries. We made so many different kinds, but the biggest hit was Blackberry Sage, inspired by my favorite tea! (Republic of Tea). We packed it up in boxes with paper and potpourri as packaging and sent it out to all of our family and friends (shipping wasn't cheap, but everyone loved the surprise). It actually even won first place at our local agricultural fair where I live in Virginia... lot's of fun and so delicious!
Hmmm, no I haven't. But I have always wanted too! My close friend's husband makes jam all the time, I just haven't remembered to ask him how he does it, lol.
I haven't, but I really want to. My parents just gave us their old canning supplies, so this is on the top of my list for next summer.

I made blackberry freezer jam last night- OMG it was so easy! Since blackberries are a noxious weed here in oregon they grow everywhere- noyw I want to go make more!
Has anyone here ever made freezer jam before?
