Well, mostly I got rid of the pictures. I mean, if someone REALLY wanted to they could figure out who I am from posts but it would take a lot of piecing and stalking to do it.

I don’t post anything that I wouldn’t want other people to know about. Plain and simple.

If someone were to find me on WB I wouldn’t really have anything to lose except of course anonymity. There isn’t anything I’ve said on here that I wouldn’t discuss in public amongst friends and/or family.

@Treejewel19:  That’s been my strategy. I wouldn’t care too much about someone finding my account. I’d prefer FH didn’t see the dress pics, but that’s it. No one I know has any reason to be on this site, so I should be in the clear regardless.

I don’t have much insight on this, I am interested to see what other people say. One thing that I noticed is that when I first joined the Bee I had the same feelings you did. Then I just started becoming less concerned. I still occasionally feel paranoid though about someone figuring out its me…but I guess if it did happen then that person would most likely be in a similar situation as I am in…

I wouldn’t post a picture of my pet, or name peoples names. Sometimes when I am posting I alter my situation a little to throw off anyone if they were to think it’s me.

I am considering leaving because of this.  I know that people IRL would probably recognize me, and I am fine with that.  I thought that someone posting my real name would be considered harassment and that the post would be taken down ASAP, rather than just closing a thread and leaving it up for anyone to read.  I don’t want my name and beename to be linked to the point where someone googling me could find out more info about me by going through my posts.

@Treejewel19:  I used to feel similar.  It’s the people who wouldn’t know me just be reading all my posts, but know me by name that I would be more concerned about.

I would also feel similar if someone posted my email address, phone number, address, etc.

I don’t post pictures of myself or ever link to personal blogs, social media, etc.  And I’ve never given any specific information as to my location, etc.  It is basic internet security, some feel comfortable posting more, I do not.  I have nothing to hide, but I just like to play it safe.

I would suggest not linking to your facebook profile, not starting weddingbee groups on facebook, not posting your picture here or linking to your wedding blog.

You know, basic security measures everyone should take when posting on internet forums.  Especially if they don’t want people to discover something really, really ugly in their past.

I don’t post pics or links to a blog. I don’t advertise my business. I don’t post topics to gain sympathy. I am an open book about some things (DD’s autism for example) but generally extremely private about other things.
