Ok so baby girl is due in 11 days and we absolutely cannot decide on a name. My fave is Aria, hubby’s not really feeling it. He is in love with Amelia, I go back and forth on it. We both like Quinn, Harper, and Scarlett. I actually love Scarlett, BUT our last name starts with Red. Like Redford, but something else. Lol everyone I mention it to says they wouldn’t even have thought about it but I’m scared people will make fun of it.
I know some of these names are getting pretty popular. I didn’t even know it until we’d decided we liked them and I started looking at popular name lists.
We had a boys name decided for sure, but a girls name we are just so stuck!

@Robin_Sparkles: I like all of them. I love Harper, especially.

@Robin_Sparkles: How many syllables ia your last name? I think Harper would go well with a two syllable last name.
ETA: Are you a HIMYM fan?

@somethingaquamarine: yes our last name is 2 syllables. If we use Harper, middle name will probably be Quinn.
And yes I loooooove HIMYM!!

I REALLY don’t like Harper- it just…doesn’t even sound like a name, at ALL, to me… maybe a last name, or… a fishing boat company (just my first thoughts)… and what kind of nickname would she have? Harp? Which makes me think of the verb, which sort of means to nag…..
I don’t like Quinn (I only knew one Quinn and he was a boy).
Scarlett I don’t like by virtue of your last name, and the one girl I knew with this nam was called “Scar” and got picked on for Scar from Lion King. Kids are stupidly cruel sometimes!
Amelia is nice. Makes me think of Amelia Bedelia… character from old kids’ books who takes everything too literally (but no one will probably remember those books anyway).
I do like Aria, but worry that there will be a LOT of Arias in the upcoming generation thanks to Game of Thrones.
Sorry I’m little to no help. :/ I tend to overthink names….

So…I don’t want to rain on your parade, because I think Scarlett is such a pretty name, but when some friends of the family named their baby Scarlett, my mother got really upset and said they were probably thinking of Scarlett O’Hara, but were unaware that a “scarlet woman” refers to a prostitute! Sigh. So I had to take that name off my list of potential baby names 🙁

I like Aria and Scarlett best! And I wouldn’t worry about the red thing, she might love the color red because it’s a big part of her name. You could get her a red ruby someday that would have special meaning to her! Quinn would be an adorable middle name! And I’m not a big fan of Harper b/c it’s so popular or Amelia, too Amelia Bedelia to me from the childrens book.

OK, I see Harper is winning and I hate to put this out there but it immediately brings to mind Oprah and her Harpo company name!
However, I am all for unique names! My husband and I were the same way and torn about deciding what to name our daughter, so we made a pack! We decidied to wait until we met her and after the 3rd day she was born we knew we wanted to name her “Trinity Seraphina” 🙂

I really love Harper Quinn! But all of them are great!

I love Aria….and my FI likes it too but then I found out it was in Game of Thrones and that’s probably why he likes it!
I wouldn’t use it though….cause I think it will become way too popular. But if you love it, go for it still 🙂
I’m not a fan of Harper…I don’t see it as a first name either. Scarlett would be out because of your last name.
I love Amelia because it is classic and I also love Quinn 🙂 All good names, you have excellent taste! I don’t think you could go wrong!
Maybe wait til little girl shows up and see what she looks like! Sometimes a name will pop out at you when you see her and talk to her!

Love both Scarlett and Aria (I voted for Scarlett). I really dislike Amelia (boring) and Harper (trendy).
