Baby boy is arriving soon, and we’re a bit stuck. I think we’ve decided on Pierce as a first name (although we have a back-up if he doesn’t look like a Pierce when he arrives.) Pierce is a family name. For the purposes of the poll, you can think of our last name as Conner. (Two syllables, ends with “er.”)
We have two family middle names that we are considering, but don’t love the way the front runner sounds with our last name. So, please help! Which sounds best? I’m going to keep secret what the family names are, because I’d like to know what sounds best without thinking about what is a family name.

I voted Everett! I think it kind of breaks up all of the “eee” sounds nicely!

I like Elliot or Everett for the middle name. Warner is too similar to the sound of the last name (Pierce ____er ______er)
I don’t like Elton because it reminds me of that annoying character in the Clueless movie….no offense 🙁

Def not Elton,
Everett is a cool name and not a lot of people have it.

I like Elliot or Everett for the middle name. I think both of those flow much better than the other two options.
Warner Conner has too much “er” sounds for me.

hmm I seem to have a different vote from most and a very different reasoning–I like Warner best because all the “E” middle names to me elide with the “S” sound from the C in Pierce– to my ear, if you say them together it sounds like:, “Pier Selliot,” “Pier Severett,” and “Pier Selton,” whereas the W makes a harder break between the names, “Pierce Warner.” I didn’t notice the double -er in the names until other posters pointed it out, but still, the soft ellision with the E middle names is much more noticeable to me…

I think Elliot and Everett both flow well. I voted for Elliot :o)
