Thanks to everyone who answered my poll or gave some suggestions to my last dessert buffet post. Although unfortunately, instead of removing things from my things to bake list, I have added things! Oh well, I’ll deal with that later.
So my question this time is about how to display the desserts on the table. I’ve found that most pictures of dessert buffets have some kind of colour theme going on, which works fine with some colours, but as I do not want to artificially colour the crap out of my food, (our colours are blues and greens (specificall lime, jade, turquoise and royal) with a bit of purple thrown in here and there) I thought I could bring in the colour theme with the cupcake wrappers.
So I thought I could make my cupcakes in cute little wrappers like these:
Hopefully these pictures stay tiny. (All pics from Etsy).
But I was worried it may look a little too birthday party-ish?
Everything will be put on square/rectangle white porcelain platters like this so that should help make it look more tidy and cohesive
So what do you think? Should I just go wild and use the colours? Should I use just one type of wrapper for each cake variety or mix them up? Or should I just use plain white liners? Should I pick one colour? Or should I just pick one wrapper pattern, eg. polka dots or gingham or metallic, and use this one pattern in all the colours.
Sorry, I think too much and am completely incapable of making my own desicions.

I think the colors are really cute, and when arranged neatly at a wedding I don’t think it will look too birthday (as long as you’re not using plastic tablecloths and balloons :))
I’d use a different color for each type of dessert to keep it cohesive. Maybe if you want it to be less ‘rainbow colors’ you could nix the purple ones and just do the blues and greens–leave purple for accents elsewhere. Just a thought. I think it’s all very pretty.

I voted use a different wrapper for each flavor – I really like this idea, because I think you could even use the patterns/colors to make the little labels telling what flavor each delicious little morsel is – that way nothing can possibly get mixed up!
Also, I think the colors/patterns you show above all coordinate together very well. 🙂

Thanks! I was leaing toward the option that seems most popular but I find it really hard to imagine what it would look like without seeing it all in action. And as I can’t see the wrappers before buying (Australia has nothing like these anywhere that I can find) I would have to buy all the wrappers first, and of course I didn’t want to do that if it turns out using them all would look silly.
I might nix the purple like @kala_way suggests, but I guess it depends on how many different blue and green ones I can find compared to how many items I’ll be making.
I really don’t know what I would do without the internet to make my decisions for me.

Haha we are twins when it comes to being indecisive. My FI and I haven’t started planning much yet, but when we do I’m going go be all over the boards asking for help! Ok onto liners…. I say go with one diff color for each item, and nix the purple. Maybe a blue polka dot, blue/white plaid/stripe, green polka dot, and green/white plaid/stripe. I also like the idea of using each coordinating color as a place card for what dessert your guests are enjoying!!
