Well, I wasn't going to do it, but then I thought I better, so here are my DIY hangers. I hope you like them as much as I do because that will mean my girls will too :-)
The green ones are for the girls to match their dresses and the white one is for me to match my gown.
Please excuse the mess in the background. It is part of my candy/cookie bar mockup. I will post pictures of that later.
Check another project off the list :) Very personal and thoughtful, I'd love to have that as a gift for my BM dress...so pretty!
Thank you ladies. Most of the time making them was spent waiting for the paint to dry. I wanted something simple and something that didn't have their name on them and something that could hold the dresses/gown securely, so this is what I came up with.
Love them! Gets me thinking I might want to make some, too. Where did you buy the raw materials?
Thank you ladies!!! Your comments are very much appreciated :-)
@ellabee: I got the wooden hangers at Wal-Mart. The paint and crackle I had on hand and the flowers, I purchased at Joanns.
What a GREAT idea!!!! Off to Walmart tomorrow to find the hangars , paint and crackle. May have the flowers already in a craft box. Even if just the wedding dress hangar gets done, that will be awesome for the photographer to shoot as the dress is hanging up. Thanks for sharing!
I love these. I'm trying to do hangars with their names, but I'm having trouble getting some of them to look right so if/when I decide to give up on those I might do this instead :)
Super Cute! You could sell some on Etsy in the future, if you wanted too! Great work!
Here are some that I made for fun - not sure if I am going to use them or keep trying until I get better
What a great DIY! I think I will have to also make a trip to walmart and joannes
Thank you ladies for all of your wonderful comments. I really appreciate your kindness :-)
I do plan to sell these in the future, but I will sell them on my website. They were really fun to make.
You hangers look very pretty too @unixfairy: :-)
A couple more things about making them that I forgot to mention for those of you that are going to make these, I used a glue called BEACON 527 MULTI-USE GLUE; it is the glue that I have found to work best for metal and wood. I call it my super duper glue because it works on everything that I have every tried to glue. Also, the flowers that I used were found in the section that also had the embroidered appliques and already shaped rhinestones. They had a brooch clip and a pinch clip attached to them that I just twisted off. If you use these same flowers, you will want to make sure that you leave the round metal part on the bottom of the flower, so the flower doesn't disassmble itself.
@noritake22: Thank you for the compliment. Ordered the hangers at walmart $10 for 10 (they are fabulous for my normal clothes - eventually would like to replace my entire and spent less than $10 on supplies at Michaels - very fun!!!
You guys are SO creative! Now if only I had a creative bone in my body! Love the hangers!
@noritake22:good job! I also made mine, but I think yours look better than mine :) I also made one hanger for my veil haha. I remember the gown you have. I think it matches very well with your hangers!

Thank you ladies for all of your lovely comments; they are all very much appreciated :-)
@unixfairy: You are very welcome :-)
@big_monchhichi: Your hanger is lovely too. I think both of ours our hangers look great in their individuality :-)
Thank you ladies :-)
@SandyToes: No, I am not going to add wire to them. I love the simplicity of them the way they are.
Noritake22 - I was so inspired by your beautiful hangars that I tried one today but my crackle didn't crackle :) What do you think I did wrong? I used acrylic ivory paint and whatever crackle medium they sell at Michaels. I let the paint dry, then the crackle stuff dry before lightly putting a coat of brown on that I rubbed off like a stain. I still like the antique effect but there's not a bit of crackling. I still added the flower and a bit of ribbon. I think I might add a little antique hanging tag I saw at Michaels so I can calligraphy "Bride" on it. Love to know what I did wrong though as I might try one more time to get the crackle effect!
@OdieB: Thank you :-)
You should have put the brown on first, let it completely dry, then put on the crackle; slather it on, then let it dry completely, then paint with your ivory paint. The darker paint always goes on first when crackling. Also, when you put on the lighter color paint, don't paint over what you have already painted with the light paint. It should start to crackle right away, but it will still have to completely dry for the total effect. If you paint over a spot that you have previously painted, it will smoosh/smear. Don't rub the paint off. It should crackle on it's own.
I absolutely LOVE them!! Great job and very creative!! I'm trying my hand at this..
Here is what I have done so far:
@hannarose: I would sooo do something like that if I could do anything straight, lol. I can't even cut on a straight line!
I'm gonna cheat and just get a bunch of the satin hangers and do something with them.... or leave 'em as-is and if one of the girls wants one, she can have one, lol. (Unless I somehow get really creative between now and then... who knows!)
LOOOOVE these hangers, btw! GORGEOUS!!!
@Zinzerena: Thank you, if that last comment was directed to me :-)
@noritake22:OH my goodness! I love your hangers!!!!! I forgot about that detail and wish I had remembered...or thought of this idea!!
