Also, if it helps, my hair will be down, probably straightened or straightened then with big wavy like curls put in
Oh, and they'll be up near Asheville around the leaves and mountains along with some around bridges and roads and hopefully (fingers crossed) a small fair/carnival type of location.
I like the 2nd outfit better, i think the red goes better with the jeans. Very cute!
I think the second sweater is more flattering to you. The white shirt peeking out from under the first sweater draws your eye to it, and away from your neckline. The boot blending into the pants also elongates your figure. So my vote is for outfit #2.
Would it be better to button up the first sweater? I was going to wear both, just change from one sweater to the other at some point.
@artbee: Thanks! They were $15 at PacSun! They shimmer too which I love.
I'd just wear the second outfit. The first one looks nice to wear to work or school... but it isn't really "special" ya know? And if your hips are something you're sensitive about, I think that the second sweater is really great because you look at that great neckline or boots and don't even look at your hips. And I like the non-beaded earrings. :)
@CorgiTales: The second sweater in the first picture almost makes me wonder if it makes my hips actually look bigger but I have no idea why. The first one would be more so for some more casual pictures then change to the boots and red sweater (I'm not super comfortable in dresses).
I like the second outfit with the first pair of earrings. Question, do you have any kind of belt such as a waist cinching belt? I think it would add a bit of flare to the sweater.
Sooo cute. :D
This is strange but I actually have no belts. I feel like when I wear belts they make my hips look even bigger. Also, when I posted this I was more worried about how the second outfit looks and everyone seems to like that one better.
I would wear the first sweater but with another more special tank underneath. Maybe unbutton the sweater and wear a cute, flattering tank?
I like both outfits. Having just taken engagement pics myself, my advice is to choose things you love to wear because you'll feel good in them and your pictures will be better.
You can't change your body, and since both outfits you posted are fairly form-fitting, what you see is what you get. I must say, though, that you're awesomely curvy. Even if you do have hips, so what? They're yours. XD
I think the red sweater only makes your hips appear to be larger because it seems to hit you at the widest part of your hips (Note; your hips are NOT wide, I am just referring to the widest part of your fine self! :P) An inch or so up would make all the difference in the world, vis-a-vis the first sweater . . . note the difference in where the sweater hits your hips versus the red sweater.
As an aside, by tucking your jeans into your boots (a look I personally heart!) you are breaking up the line of your legs which makes them appear a bit shorter than they do in the flats, even though they are heels.
I'm fine with my wide hips, just sometimes it frustrates me. I've always loved my curves (my dress fits me like a glove to my hips). My legs are short though (I'm only 5'5). I'll see what I can do about a different tank top since I have a few in mind already and I'll look at that sweater and see if I have anymore like the red sweater (hopefully I can make the red work and maybe it'll work better if I just suck it up, change to boot cut jeans, and wear regular high heel boots under them).
I love the first outfit for a more casual outfit, it's super cute and looks great on you!
I'm not too sure why, but I'm not totally in love with the 2nd outfit, I think the boots are throwing me off maybe. If you try switching to boot cut jeans and heels underneath I think it would look amazing though. I definitely do love the red sweater, just maybe not with the boots.
I agree that I like the 2nd outfit best. BUT, I would either find a pair of jeans that are more slim fitting (i.e. skinny jeans) or pair the outfit with heels (or maybe just don't tuck the boots into the jeans). I LOVE the boots, but when you wear boots tucked into jeans, you shouldn't have all that excess material bulging around the knee area. Do you maybe have a cute above the knee or just at the knee skirt to pair with the sweater and boots? I think that would be adorable!
Those are actually straight legged jeans, skinny jeans look super weird on me because of my hips. I'll look at my skirts again (I have one that may work and be comfortable but I'm usually not super comfortable in skirts/dresses) and my other jeans and see what I can come up with without putting boots over the jeans (an issue that I have because my calf muscles are strangely bigger than I guess the "normal" size so knee high boots fit me tightly). I also do agree that the knee high boots shorten my legs and might have been what was bothering me about that outfit. I'm going to try some stuff on again probably Friday with different tank top with the first outfit and the adjustments to the second and we'll see how that goes! Thanks everyone for your input!
Any chance of you wearing a black skirt, tights and boots with the red sweater? I think that would be super cute! I have curvy hips as well, and I find that when I wear skirts ( has to be the right kind) that it helps to make my hips look slimmer.
@mandb122: No problem. :) In that case, to elongate your legs, I would do a boot cut with some form of heel underneath.
No matter what you wear, you're gonna look super gorgeous.
I like outfit number two. I think it makes you look thinner and I like the red sweater. I would do outfit number two with the earrings in the first pic.
1. Colors - This is important if you’re taking color pictures. Jewel tones (the a-line skirts of the color wheel) are universally flattering for most skin types. Jewel tones include sapphire, emerald, fuchsia, amethyst and ruby red. Don’t worry about whether you’re an autumn or a spring; just choose a rich color that brightens your face. No pastels, no black*!
2. Keep it Simple - Wear a dress or top that is uncomplicated and chic. This is not the time to try out a new trend. Skip embellished necklines, textured fabrics (like eyelet) that add bulk, shiny satin, ruffles and big prints. A solid color dress or fitted top with a little bit of neckline interest is the best way to go. Since that eliminates about 80% of Bloomingdale’s, take this list if you go shopping and stay focused.
3. Silhouette - If you’re getting full length shots, then choose something that is fitted and flattering. Even if you’re insecure about your weight, loose, bulky dresses and tops will only make you look bigger. Emphasize your waist with an a-line or sheath dress. Opt for dresses in this type of photo over skirt-top combinations that can be complicated. If you’re having a casual shoot, then jeans are better than trousers.
4. Accessories - You have the best accessory of all, a beautiful engagement ring. Skip bulky, obvious jewelry. Simple earrings or necklace will do the trick. If you’re doing a full length shot definitely wear high heels because they elongate the whole body.

So mine aren't for a little over three weeks but I need to have it ready by a week or so before because I like to plan ahead for things like this. These pictures aren't fantastic because they're cell phone pictures and some are tinted slightly green which looks weird. I was thinking about wearing these two sweaters for the engagement pictures with different shoes, the jeans are the same jeans to make it easier. The shoes are brown flats and black knee high boots (the second are hard to see in the pictures). Also, I'll put a picture of the two sets of earrings because I'm not sure which I like better with which outfit (the one with the beads has more fall coloration - reds, greens, yellow, ivories - the fact that you can't see it is a con of my cell phone pictures
). I'm just concerned that I look wider in the hips in either of these outfits but I might just be making it up so I thought I'd ask for opinions on here. Any suggestions are welcome and please be honest.
