I just have to rant about these statuses I see on Facebook.
“I am cleaning my friends list. So, if you wanna stay please like this status or show me some love in a comment. Let’s see who my TRUE friends are.”
Drives me NUTS! I see them all of the time! I get that social media is all about attention and recognition, but really?! Really?!
Am I the only one with people like this on their Facebook?!

You’re not the only one with Facebook friends like that. That’s pretty standard stuff.
I’ve seen this a few times, but it doesn’t bother me. It’s easy to ignore. If I really don’t like it I can just hide them from my news feed or unfriend them, but it has never bothered me enough to do that.

@lolita39: Yep, I do have some of them. I don’t care and don’t feel threatened, if they want to unfriend me that’s on them. I do clean ups from time to time but I don’t tell everybody. If you’ve been on my friends’ list for a year and haven’t talked to me once, I’ll unfriend you and that’s all.

See, my issue isn’t that I feel threatened. I could care less if that person deleted me off of their FB.
This what annoys me is when someone responds
“Oh please FB friend, don’t delete me!”
and the poster will say something like
“I couldn’t ever imagine deleting you!“
I’m not sure why it grates on my nerves the way it does! I guess, my thinking is this: If all it takes to be a “TRUE” friend is to simply like a facebook status, then you must have low standards for friends to begin with. So really, you’re just looking for those people to give you extra attention by scaring them into thinking you’ll actually delete them.

I agree, it’s annoying and I don’t have time to respond to nonsense like that so if you want to delete me for it.. have at it! I think of it as them doing me a favour, saves me the trouble of doing it myself.
When I start to get annoyed by someones posts, I usually go to their profile and remove them from my news feed, simple enough. In some cases, I delete them.
I understand your frustration to a certain extent but in the end, it’s your choice to let it continue or do something about it.

I see those – I’ve never once responded to one and somehow those people are still my Facebook friends.
I do clean out my list periodically, but I don’t notify the Facebook world first.

@lolita39: Somehow I still stay friends with those people despite not commenting or liking the status. I think it’s a cry for attention…
Post # 9
Haha I love the ones that say if you don’t like/comment/share it they will defriend you. That’s when I take the opportunity to defriend them first.
It’s definitely not something I would post (because hardly anyone ever responds to it! They’re the equivalent of those 8th grade chain emails you used to send around – immature) but it doesn’t bother me persey. I just keep on scrolling.

I see them and they don’t annoy me. I never comment/like the statuses. If they want to delete me for it, then alrighty!
@lolita39: Heh — yeah, that’s what a lot of those posts are for. It still doesn’t bother me, though. That’s just how some people do things, and it pre-dates Facebook too. Nothing new there.
I see why posts like that are annoying, but it’s just something that people do. If they’re doing it for attention, it’s ok. That’s how they like to do things and they know it works. If their attention seeking gets to be too much for me, I just use the functions provided by Facebook and take care of the problem.

@MrsWBS: lol! I forgot about those chain emails!!! You just took me back!
@LadyBear: You’re right, I’ve never responded to one and I always somehow make the cut!
If anyone ever posts something like that I usually respond with something like “who is this?” or “OMG, PLEASE delete me” or “you’re dead to me.” My friends know better.
@Rhopalocera: See, that’s a very laid-back way of seeing it! I just always feel bad deleting or hiding someones posts for crying out for attention, so if it does get too bad I will delete or hide it. Especially when they are family…ugh
I think I’ve seen about 6 this week. Really that’s when it got me.
Yeah, I’ve seen those. A lot of FB posts are useless and annoying!

@housebee: Ahahaha! Ballsy! I love it!
I’m really not very close to everyone on my facebook though, especially some odd family members. So if I did ay something like that, my grandma would be calling me in a hurry asking why I’m being mean to my uncle!
