I know white (and shades of) are a no go at a wedding, but hear me out.
I am planning on wearing a navy blue dress with pearls and a vintage, chinese-style cream ivory jacket to a spring wedding. Too much “white”?
I am also hiring a hat a-la the Duchess of Cambridge (I’m British and it’s a British wedding) and don’t know if I should go for navy, or ivory to match my jacket (and other accessories). Thoughts?
p.s I know it’s early but since I need to reserve a hat I need to decide asap, don’t want to end up with only frumpy ones left!

I think the white hat should be fine! To be honest, I’m a little sick of people assuming that someone wearing white (or off-white) to a wedding is trying to “upstage” the bride. A navy dress with an ivory jacket and hat should be perfectly fine, and sounds like it would look lovely!

It depends on your colouring. I’d personally go for navy with ivory accents on the fascinator/hat.

@SpecialSundae: pale and blonde, I like the idea of a mix though 🙂

@LadyElva: Thanks, my mum said the same 🙂

@ladyartichoke: I’d definitely go for navy as a base for the hat, then. It’ll stand out much better against your hair.

I’d go with a navy facinator – if it’s warm and you take off the jacket, it’ll still match nicely. As for the jacket, I think you’re okay as long as it’s clear navy is the overall main color of the outfit.

I think that’s totally fine. Your outfit is clearly not a wedding dress so nobody should be confused or offended.

I would not be offended if you showed up at my wedding in that, sounds cute! 🙂
