I love this haircut and think it would look amazing on you! It's not too short--if you said you wanted to go chin-length, I'd say no, probably not good for your face. BUT, i think hair this length is slimming on a face, more so than long hair, so I say go for it! I love the face-framing pieces. And i am super jealous of your hair color. Love it =]
She has pretty fine/flat hair, too. I've been using that Argan oil and i looooove it. It's great on my hair (makes it smell good and keeps it not fuzzy and I have way fuzzy hair). A volumizer for your roots might help pick it up. My stylist used it on me once and I wasn't too happy b/c i already have a ridic amount of volume, so I imagine it'd really help you if that's what you wanted. I think it's cute; go for it! Changes are good for us =]
I say cut it. That's always ALWAYS my choice!! I was growing my hair out and realized I HATED it. Alwyas had it up. And short hair helps me be the best version of myself.... so I took the plunge and cut it for our e-pics - best decision I could have made. Will probably keep it short up until our wedding next June and have a super sassy 'do. If you think that shoulder-length Kelly is the best version of 'you', then GO FOR IT!!! :) That haircut is supercute. Keep us posted!
@ejs4y8- you can have my hair color... it is out of a box at target :) Unfortunately red fades pretty fast so I really have to keep on top of it. Undecided if I'm going to keep red at this next appointment... its just a lot of upkeep! I've tried volumizing spray mousse on my roots but it doesn't do too much. Maybe with a few less inches of hair it won't be so weighed down.
@alundberg- you are brave! I would be so scared to get it cut right before pics! I'll definitely post an "after" shot next weekend of whatever I come out with.
I think it's super cute!
One thing to think about though:
When is your wedding? If you want to do an updo, you might want to stick with a longer 'do. I'm trying to grow mine out from a bob I got almost 1.5 years ago. lol
@50 - no idea! I'm hoping my guy proposes when we go on our vacation in 2 weeks... so we'll have to talk after that. I'm thinking probably next fall/winter. I do plan to do an updo, but I feel like that hair cut is long enough to pull it up a little with a fake hair piece... i have no problem with fake hair! :)
My best friend has really thin hair. She just cut her hair, i'll attach a pic. I blocked out her face, well, because I don't know if she'd want me posting pics of her :) She says she can style in 10 min.
But if your wedding is soon i'd maybe think about what kind of hair style you want too.
Then I say go for it. Then you can have extra-sassy hair for "I just got engaggeeeddd!!!" shots. :p
@sunnygal- I love that! I just worry that it'd be too short for my already-round face haha. Maybe in 2o (or 30) pounds I'll get up the nerve (and lose a little cheek). Also, super nervous of the super shiny hair!
@50- was TOTALLY think of the "i just got engaged" shots when I made the hair appt for the weekend before we leave! Too cute too.... the bf made a hair appt for himself the same day (and neither of us knew the other had done it) haha.
I have the same kind of hair as you, and for a loooooooooong time I was terrified of cutting it short, because I'd always had it long. Well, except that time in high school where I let my 15 year old bff cut it into a completely straight, no layers, chin length bob (using paper scissors, even). It looked horrible! So I assumed all short hair would look the same on me.
My junior year of college I finally let someone talk me into layers, from chin to shoulder (much like what you posted), and loved it. I was amazed how much more body I got just from a little less length. After that I kept going shorter and shorter. My stylist in the States has similar hair to mine, which really helped too ~ she was able to commiserate. I think my favorite hairstyle was when it was layered just around chin length (not long enough to hit a collared shirt in the back), and she layered it so it would flip out on it's own. I've always been a 2minute or less prep kinda girl, so all I had to do was towel dry it, part it, then finger comb it upside down and flip over. It air dries in about 20 minutes.
I cut it shorter (cropped) a year ago, and am now pretty much decided on growing it back out into a bob. :)
I say cut it! It'll always grow back if you're not happy, but I think it'll look cute on you!
Just be sure to tell your stylist exactly what you want (and how you want to be able to style it) - sometimes the cut can add a lot!
@daydreamwanderer- I might have to work up to anything shorter than this! the chin-bob sounds cutes though! I am like you, I just hate taking time to style my hair. I don't own hairspray (I guess that could have something to do with my aforementioned problems, but to be honest I'm just not the kind of girl that will ever own hairspray regularly so I need to get a cut that works with that). haha.
Your post could have been written by me! I have the exact same kind of hair and its so annoying sometimes! You put all this effort into styling it an it goes completely flat and straight. I got a hair cut very similar to the one you posted above, and it think it is definitely the best style for our hair types. I kept mine a bit longer than the picture above though, and didn't run into the problem of having a shorter cut that makes your face look rounder.
I was always putting my hair up too because it was always falling straight into my face and it felt so heavy whenever it grew long. Something my stylist does (and forgive me, any hairstyling bees out there for the lack of a better term) is to make very light ends to my layers by cutting INTO the hair. There is also a special pair of sissors they can use that cuts some of the hair, while leaving some intact. It really softens up the end of your layers and makes your hair feel light and bouncy.
I am in a hair funk too - my layers have grown out and my hair is so plain again!
I also wanted to say, I think you should consider a super sassy cut to eliminate any "roundness" you think you carry in your face. One time, my dad told me "ann, fat girls can't have short hair" and it stuck with me for 10 years, and I never cut it through high school and college. Then, I got a horrible haircut at a cheap place, had to get it "fixed" at a VERY expensive salon, and it turned into my signature asymetrical bob that I've grown to love over the last few years. I got SOOO lucky!!Do what you want and don't worry about "roundness" in your face; A killer haircut will accentuate ANY type of face!! :)
Cut it! It would look SO cute on you. I actually might steal those picture to take to my next haircute. I am in desperate need of a change and will wear my hair down at my wedding (whenever that might be... I'm waiting for the ring too!). And the haircut is SO adorable!
I think that hc would look really cute on you and if you want to do an updo, you'd have time to grow it out a little if needed. Have fun on your trip!
Update!!! I did it! I went in yesterday, got an awesome 2 tone color, and got it cut shorter! I really love it... and I actually kind of feel like its my first ever "grown up" haircut :)
I didn't love how she styled it initially... i think that hairdressers with naturally curly hair always have a tendency to go overboard with a straight iron :) I forgive her that though because she always does such an awesome job on the cut!
First pic is how she styled it yesterday. Second pic is how I styled it today with a round brush (please forgive the fact that i'm in pjs and no makeup!).
I'm loving this cut!
Love it!! I just cut and colored mine too...love getting my hair done. Your new style is very nice and compliments your face very well!!
Nice hair cut, very cute! I have opposite hair from you- very thick and curly/frizzy, but since I got mine done at about your new length I have been more likely to wear it down much more often. Hope yours works out the same way, it is such a nice length.
I love your new cut!! It is so fresh & young... your hair has so much more life & body now!
It makes me want to go get chopped :)
You look so beautiful!!! You made a GREAT decision to cut it shorter. It actually makes your face look slimmer (I know that you were worried about that).
So glad i checked back on your post. Your haircut looks FABULOUS on you!!! Great choice, and I love how it looks when you styled it yourself
NICE cut! And good idea with the poll - i might have to copy your idea since I need some input on my hairstyles :)

Inspired by a post below I decided to turn to the bees for advice on my haircut. I kind of hate my hair. It is SUPER fine/thin and has a tendency to get tangled and frizzy. It is also relatively straight. I almost always keep it a few inches past shoulder-length, not sure why, it is just my "safe" cut. The only thing I ever change about it usually is the color and my bangs (or lack thereof). The biggest problem with it is that while it looks like after I blow it out, in 2 hours it is back to being super limp and meh-- at which point I just put it up. This really hit home when I went through all my fb pics to look for a good "now" picture with my hair down.. I couldn't find one pic where you could actually see my haircut bc I'm always pulling it up! Pic below is from my firm website but you can kind of see what I have going on here.
Getting my hair cut next weekend and I need a new style. One that I can wear down and will be professional looking, but that won't take a long time to do. I always feel like I can't cut my hair shorter bc I'm worried it'll make my face look rounder... but I really like Kelly Pickler's cut (below my pic). What do you guys think? Just get a trim? Do the Kelly? Or something else (please post pics if you have ideas for me!)
