My invitations should be coming soon hopefully. My dress fitting I'm hoping to get done next month because the only thing I need done is a bustle. Today I actually got confirmation that I have a hair/makeup stylist for me and my mom for $200 for both of us with travel included so that was great. I'm hoping to reserve the ceremony chairs within the next week or two and also go to the jeweler to talk about my wedding band and get it started. Our engagement pictures that are mainly for pretty pictures and to get to know our photographer are the 18th too. And we still have to go to the cake baker that is making the groom's cake and favors (I'm thinking mini apple pies in little boxes - yum). Besides that this month I think it's mainly to get small stuff ordered like the bubbles as well as to go to the flea market/Goodwill to find more vases for centerpieces. It looks like a lot more when typed out. Really the main things that need to be done are chairs and rings though.
@mandb122 We found our rings last month but are waiting till after the holidays to order them...fingers cross that the price doesn't go up on them with the cost of Gold.
@Nola: Mine has to be custom made because of how weirdly shaped my engagement ring is so we've been trying to find some old gold that we don't wear to contribute and bring the price down. I've already found his which isn't expensive at all, I just need to know his ring size to order it.
Goals for this month:
-Finish printing and assembling invites
-ring shopping
-finalize cupcake plans and submit a deposit
-start on favors and runners
I get to cross florist off our list though! YAY!!
I feel like I am under a time crunch. I have so much done, but I feel so stressed out. My goals for this month are:
So when is everyone sending out invites?
Freaking out, mostly!
I'm hoping to send out invites Dec 26 (to just avoid the holiday rush). My envelopes are addressd, but I still need to place my order with weddingpaperdivas (we were waiting on the final room block info, which we just got)
I fly to COlorado Springs Dec 15-18 for my first fitting.
Then I fly to OKC Dec 20-25 for Christmas with the family. During that time with any luck we'll get to meet with the pastor and remeet with the florist since I've changed my vision just a bit. I think I'm just NOT going to have time to meet with the DJ, so I'll have to let that go and let my sister handle it.
I can't believe how close it is....
FI bought our rings on Black Friday (15% off whole store plus 30% off with his mom's employee discount!) and I've already received my invitations. This month I need to get addresses!! I'm planning on sending them out at the beginning of January because the "return by" date is February 12th. My dress should come in early January but it may be in this month if it's early. When it comes in, I need to find a hairpin and earrings.
What I've checked off: ceremony/reception venue, menu, alcohol, florists (needs to be updated), DJ (need to finalize songs), cake flavors and design, uplighting, pastor, dress, veil, shoes (picked but need to be ordered), invitations, honeymoon booked, wedding rings, rehearsal scheduled, rehearsal dinner reservation, BM dresses all bought, tuxes picked out/registered, registry completed.
What am I missing?
I'm getting married March 20th, RSVP is by 11 Feb so I'm thinking of sending the invites out the first week of January. Is that too much time?
In December, I'm going to start collecting things for the wedding like baskets for the programs, and other trinkets I find for the OOT bags/Bathroom baskets. Also I just ordered our wedding rings, the cake topper, and the gift for my parents. During Thanksgiving week, we put together most of the programs (ran out of ribbon!), stamped the RSVPs/invites and addressed them, and designed the place cards.
Goals for December:
Schedule dress fitting
Address invitations (to be sent in early Jan)
Design programs, place cards, seating chart
Apply for passport
Finish bridesmaids' gifts and start on groomsmens'
Tasting with rehearsal dinner venue
Figure out a few small details like card box, guest book, etc.
@jindc: No, that isn't too much time. It sounds about right. My wedding is March 27th and I am sending mine out on Dec. 27th. My RSVP Date is Feb 7th.....but 75% of my guests are out of town.
@Nola: I am sending ours the first weekday in January with an RSVP date of February 14th. I want to get them back early, so I have the numbers for the caterer and also the cards back with the music selections for the DJ. If I could send them out now and have them back next week, I would. I just want to get it over with. This waiting is stressing me out.
I'm getting married March 4th, on a Friday at 4pm.. I sent my invitations out already. My reasons: people have to ask off to attend my wedding, out of town guests have to make the plans, and I didn't want to send them at the last minute, AND I really didn't want them to get them mixed in with Thansgiving Christmas stuff.
My to-do list:
--Tasting
--Music selection
--Build "photobooth"
--Dress fitting needs to be scheduled
-- Small details, gifts, card box, guest book..
-- Did I mention our honeymoon cruise is to be paid IN FULL by Dec. 21st???!?!
also did I mention were going on the Allure of the Seas :D anyone else going on a fantabulous cruise?!
@noritake22 I hear ya on the hating to wait and just wanting it done! I would be happy to send out our invites this week but I don't want them to get lost or overlooked due to the Holidays. I doubt this would happen but still I rather be safe. I feel like I am doing pretty good on my time line but I would be so happy to just be done with it and be at the wedding already.
@slmaynard I love your picture! We have yet to decide if we are even doing anything for a honeymoon. We have talked about going on a cruise out of New Orleans but it is still up in the air....his Aunt wants to give us a honeymoon gift but hasn't talked to him about it yet. No idea why she asked me first. Enjoy your cruise though. Where all does it go?
On a side note, I just got off the phone with the baker and scheduled my appointment for Dec. 8th to go do a tasting and design the cake!!!! I am so happy yet sad that I am going to be doing wedding stuff in the middle of my cousin's funeral things going on. I really just want to grieve but know I have to get this stuff done when I am down in New Orleans.
Anyways....ladies I am so excited to get to share these little details with you all and am excited for all of our weddings to come and so excited to see all the recaps!
@Nola: Thank you :) Have you ever cruised before, I went on my first in March this year when we got engaged, theyre so much fun and after planning ALL the wedding details you'll be happy to have such an easy vacation that requires hardly no planning. There's tons of things to do on the boats and off. You should definitely look into some. I'm thinking there's some pretty great deals out there now. Check out cruisecritic.com I just saw a great deal the other day on there.
Sorry to hear about your loss, but excited about your cake tasting and design!!
@slmaynard:Howdy. You're my date twin!
This month. let's see.
- FINALLY pay deposit on hair and makeup. Seriously. I'm not THAT ugly. Why is it costing so much to make me look "natural - bridey". Le sigh.
- Get groomsmen measurements for tux rental. I'm looking at you BEST MAN.
- Find something to wear to the after party
- Go back in for dress fitting. Too big around the waist. Still.
- Book honeymoon hotel and flights
- Book wedding night hotel room
- Print up signage for table names, guest book, and card box
- Just yesterday designed and ordered OOT bag labels
I sent invites out this week as with my twin my wedding will require a day off work and travel for all.
@lola2011:I'm glad I'm not the only one who is having their wedding this day and sent out the invites early and such! So exciting to have a date twin :P
I just picked up my invites and inserts from the printer and they are AMAZING! I just needed to share with someone. I have all the envelopes addressed and stamped. All the RSVP postcards are numbered. I just have to make 80 pockfolds and attach the stuff I picked up today. I am so excited!
