My daughter and her groom do not wish to invite children other than those in the wedding party, or plus-ones who are not long-standing relationships. We have struggled for quite a while with RSVP wording, carefully considering all options discussed on this site. (And thanks for your many words of wisdom on this touchy subject!) They didn’t like the “X seats have been reserved in your honor” option because they felt that although it might limit the total guest count, it did not prevent an invited guest from bringing someone who was not invited. I came up with the very detailed wording below to address these concerns. The only down side I can see is that I will have to print each card individually, but I think it achieves the goal of specifying exactly who is invited. It also eliminates the need to number response cards, since guest names are pre-printed on the cards. What do you think, Hive?
Please indicate attendance for each invited guest, and return by November 20th using the enclosed envelope.
