I’m doing something similar.

I actually wrote Reception is at  ‘Parents last name’ Estate.

So it’s not so…tailgate-y.

I vote “Garden Reception.” It’s simple, but you get the idea that it’s both small-ish (intimate) and outside.

I think you could go with “garden reception” or “private residence”.  Isn’t that what they always go with in wedding magazines?

We did the same thing! I think we worded it as “at the home of _____”

It was for sure not tailgate-y. I think people have realized that backyard receptions can be done very beautifully!

On our invitations, we wrote (in the spot where you put the venue) “The home of ____”

Oooh, I love that, I was wondering about that too. “Garden reception at the ______ Estate” sounds fabulous!

I was tickled because I’m thinking of having mine at my sister’s house, and the idea of callingi t an estate….well, let’s just say I think of an estate and my sister’s house doesn’t come to mind. I think mansion when I hear estate. But maybe I just have the wrong connotation from watching too many soap opera weddings.

As a guest, I’d probably think I was going to a mansion if the house was called and estate on the invitation. I’m not sure what their house is like so I can’t tell you whether or not that would set up the correct expectation.

My friend got married and had her reception in someone’s (giant and florally abundant) backyard. The invitation said, “At the home of ______. Reception immediately following.”
