So our beautiful garden venue has decided to display a Big Bug Exhibition (that wasn’t supposed to start until mid April) at our reception site. So now we have a giant ant statue that will be in the back of all of our pictures. They said they can move it more to the left but you’re still going to be able to see it. And, off camera, there’s another giant ant to the right. Why couldn’t they just wait until April 🙁 Here’s a picture so you can see the new addition to my reception decor

That totally sucks, im so sorry. I’m sure that everything is going to still be incredibly beautiful, plus im sure that they can be photoshopped out.

I’m the kind of person that would probably work them into our pictures as a joke somehow. But if you really hate’em, will they allow you to cover them up with something that’ll blend in with the greenery somehow? Also, a good photographer should be able to take shots to avoid them. Anyway, try not to worry about it too much. Our reception area was covered in stink bugs last May. I was pretty horrified. But in the end, it ended up being much less of a big deal than I’d made it out to be, and the guests also didn’t seem to mind much.

@Excited To Bee: Yeah I’m hoping our photographer can work around them. It’s just that that is the pretty view of the plants/mountains, when you turn around the other view is the side of a building.
@pfinarffle: We are not allowed to touch it and did joke that we could make it the backdrop to our photo booth. We already sent an email to our photographer to just give her a heads up to work around them.
I think I’m more annoyed that this exhibit wasn’t supposed to be put up until after our wedding but they were so excited the artist let them put it up early.

Oh no, that really sucks! It IS kind of hilarious, though. I’m not sure what you two are like as a couple, but maybe can get some funny poses of you guys mock running away in terror, haha.
In all seriousness, your photographer should be able to work around it and possibly even photoshop it out. I’m sorry this happened to you!

Same thing keeps happening at my ceremony location, because it is at an art gallery. I was just going to work around it and make it PART of the pictures rather than trying to ignore it.
It does ruin some ideas at first though, I feel for you!

Its not in your contract that they can’t change the decor?

@Juliepants: I said it reminded me of “Honey I Shrunk the Kids”. And there is a giant praying mantis statue when you first enter that I thought would be funny to do pictures with. I’m hoping when they move it that it won’t be the centerpiece of the background anymore. The problem with where it is right now is that I was standing where our sweetheart table and dance floor are when I took the picture, so any pictures of us will have that view as the background.
