Okay bees, so I just started working as a bank teller as of last week. My first week, I had to take a teller training class a couple of days, & then I observed at my local branch for a couple of days. I have a trainer that’s going to be working with me for the next couple of weeks.
Anyways, starting tomorrow, I’m going to be actually handling transactions. She’s still going to be with me the whole time, but I am SO nervous! I’m sure the feeling probably won’t go away until I just get in there & learn everything.
How did you/would you cope with anxiety/stress with a new job? I just want to do a great job, and I’m so worried about not doing things right, etc! I probably won’t sleep tonight, lol.

@roweboat: Congrats on the new job! It’s been a while since I’ve started a new job, but you just have to keep in mind that everyone who works at that bank started with no knowledge at some point in their career. The person who is training you needed to be trained, etc. They can relate to how you’re feeling.
It’s ok to make mistakes.. just own up to them fast, and be apologetic to any customers. If you need to ask a question, do so. Let customers know you’re new to this if you feel like you need to take some more time to do something correctly, etc.
It’s good to be nervous… it means that you want to do a good job. Pretty soon this will all be routine.

@canarydiamond: Thanks for the encouragement 🙂 I’m lucky that my trainer is so nice & knows what she’s doing, I just worry about messing something up! Being a perfectionist sucks, lol.

I know how you feel! I started a new job last fall and I felt the same way. I still do on some days actually. The anxiety is not as bad as it was, I no longer dread going into work. You will do great!! 🙂 Give yourself permission to feel how you do. Be courageous!
