I’ve huffed and puffed my way from the lounge room, up 4 stairs into my computer room, and you know what? I think I’m finally ready to do something about the mess I’ve become.
I’ve stacked on close to 70lb in the 6.5 years I’ve been with Fiance, and I was already about 30lb overweight when I met him. I watched it pile on, and did nothing.
This time last year I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. High enough to be told that I could have had a heart attack or stroke at any moment. And still I did nothing. Months worth of tests and a hospital stay told me that they can’t find a cause for it. Gave me medication and sent me away.
I have a gym membership that I haven’t touched in nearly 2 years. I stopped going when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. He’s been in remission for nearly 12 months now.
Tonght, I’m packing my gym bag, updating my old ipod, and not making any more excuses. I’m going to go to the gym for an hour before I go to work. Even if I stay on the treadmill at a snail’s pace, it’s moving. It’s a start. And when we do our grocery shopping tomorrow night, there’ll be no junk, no processed food, and no excuses for buying takeaway.
I’m sick of my joints aching all the time. My hips hurt, walking a few steps to the car makes my back ache. My ankle injury from 5 years ago is flaring up. My stomach is a hair’s breath away from touching the steering wheel.
Last time I weighed myself, I was 276lb. I’m 5’4. I’m 24. And I’ve been wasting my life.
I’m on myfitnesspal if anyone wants to be my friend – username is kellymarie187. I need to start keeping myself accountable.
New me, here I come!

@shadesofviolet: Good for you for deciding to take charge.

You rock so hard. I’m not on fitnesspal but I would love someone on here to keep me in line (and I’ll do the same). Feel free to pm me.

@missfrillycoat: I think I will take you up on that!
I don’t know what’s different this time, but I can tell that I dont enjoy eating as much anymore. I catch myself eating at lunchtime because “it’s lunchtime and that’s what I should be doing.”
I’m going to have dinner with my parents tonight, which should be nice as long as everyone stays civil as promised… and then we’ll see what tomorrow brings!

I am proud of you!
You can, and will, do this!

I don’t have myfitnesspal but I’ve been using Calorieking and am down 51 pounds this time (83 pounds from my highest) and my husband is down 105 pounds. The cooking has been the biggest change this time from last time I dieted. I’ve really made a life change without depriving myself. I eat out lunch once a week and we go out to dinner once a week (still try to watch what I order though) but other than that we cook a lot, I love the recipes on Skinnytaste. So if you ever need any support or tips or just good recipes feel free to PM me. I still have another 30 pounds I’d like to lose so I need to keep motivated as well.

@SupermansSweetheart: Accepted! YAY for friends!
@redhead46: Wow… you two are awesome! My Fiance is 6’3″ and 150lb at his heaviest, but he’s supportive. Since my blood pressure diagnosis we’ve both cut right back on salt, actually I think he’s doing a better job of it than me! He yells at me if he sees me with the salt shaker. We both just need to eat a lot better and find the time to prepare good meals. I have a crapload of cookbooks, I’ll go through those and see what I have.
Thanks everyone for commenting and showing support! My aim at the moment is to shoot for 100lb lost, and evaluate as I’m coming up to that. I have a couple of recent photos that I might post as a “before”… we’ll see if I work up the nerve for that!
I’m just about finished packing my gym bag now, and will be heading off to bed in anticipation of a 5:45am wakeup. Lord help me! Might check in on fb so if I’m late for work they know where to send the ambulance… haha
