Im a regular here, but decided to change my user name as my other one was too easy to idenify! I’m about to take my dress into alterations, and I’m trying to figure out how to best control my ladies in my strapless sweetheart.
Also, wedding dress asside, where do you find the best bras?!

I am a 32DD or so, and I had no trouble with my strapless sweetheart on my wedding day! My dress had lots of boning, so it really held everything together. I also made sure it wasn’t too low cut!
Under the dress, I wore a stick-on bra and a strapless bra over it!
My go-to lingerie shopping website is Adoreme.com. I love their stuff, and they have tons of styles and sizes! Also not too expensive, IMO.
Here’s my wedding dress top!

@MrsBPhD: I’m a 32DD , but really could use a 30E and I had no problem. The dress I got had a lot of inner structure, all I will really need are some sewn in cups.

I bought a bustier from herroom.com, the same place a buy most of my bra’s. They carry hard to find sizes and have easy returns on things that don’t work out.

@MrsBPhD: 32DD here!
My dress was strapless. I had linked underwire cups and boning sewn into my dress, along with an internal support strap with its own clasp and zipper that was attached to cups/boning. so, almost like an internal corset top. I don’t even remember having to pull it up all night pretty much, it was so secure! I did not wear a bra at all.
As for bras, for a long time I was not a big fan of VS because their vanity sizing and insistence of stuffing bras full of flotation device worthy padding made it impossible to find bras that fit. They also just didnt carry D+ in the 32 band size for any of their cuter bras. I am finding that is changing though…for christmas husband got me a set with a 32DD, no padding, and it actually fits very well. It’s also a beautiful style. So I am giving them another chance.
Before that, I found Fredericks of Hollywood was pretty good about carrying bigger cup sizes in the 32 band size and fit more true to size. Also Wacoal and Le Mystere.

@MrsBPhD: I’m either. 32e or sometimes a 30f, depending. In addition to a dress with a lot of structure as the others have said, I will occasionally wear a full boned corset. The other great strapless option I be found recently is the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless. It’s made with steel and it stays on so well! I’m so impressed with the lift, support and how well it stays put! The lines work really well with sweet heart necklines, too.

I’m a 32F and I got a dress with straps, so I could actually just wear a normal bra! I get my bras at a private lingerie store that is fantastic and has great employees who can help with sizing. I don’t remember the brands, but I’ll try to look later.

32DD or 30F here… I bought a bustier from barenecessities and althought the bustier itself was great it was HORRIBLE with my dress. It caused my dress to slip down (because the satin was slippery) and so it showed on the sides. it also cut into my side. Ruined so many of my photos. I took it off at the reception and instantly felt so much better. and my boobs still looked fine. I wish that I had convinced the seamstress to sew something into my dress instead.
With the bustier… hiking up my dress even before the wedding.
After taking the bustier off after dinner.

What type of dress do you have? I have 32/34 G ladies and had a lace-up/corset dress. I had bought an undergarment, but the woman doing my alterations made me take it off as it was messing with the shape of the dress and how it sat on my body. If I had needed it, I usually prefer local “intimates” stores because they serve larger sizes. I didn’t just get a bra originally. I had a corset thing (sorry…brain isn’t working right now to come up with the terms).

36DDD – I like Nordstrom’s for bra. I wore a strapless bra from there with my strapless dress. Worked great!

@MrsBPhD: I have a non-typical bra size as well (28G). I get bras from an independent lingerie specialty store. It sucks to pay a lot for a bra, but I take good care of them and they last a long time. I really love Freya, which carries size 28 band sizes and up. They also have a very wide variety of cup sizes, so a 32DD would be easy to find.
If I want to reorder a bra I already have, I order from figleaves.com

I’m a normal 32F/G, strapless 30G/H depending on the brand. I order all my bras online from sites like lindasonline.com, figleaves.com, and herroom.com. I hate pulling up strapless dresses and bras all night, so I plan on buying a dress with straps. Good luck!!!

@letigre: AHHHH you’re like the only person I’ve ever encountered who is a 28 band size! Almost impossibel to find! I’m a 28 F, and I get my bras from a store in Canada called “Changes” … but now I will have to check out your recs, thanks!
ETA: WOW Freya bras are expensive!!! :/

@MrsSnowMountain: Change is GREAT! I have two bras from them, but they’re basic black and nude. They don’t carry their entire line in a 28 band size, but that’s like most bra manufacturers.
Secrets from Your Sister has sales several times a year and the prices on more expensive UK brands tends to be around Change’s pricepoint (~$50). I find the quality of what they carry to be better than Change, so it’s worth a look! I go to the Bathurst/Bloor location and they’re so nice!
