Hi ladies, I am from Tuscaloosa. We're getting married in Cullman though. I just haven't seen any brides from here. I was wondering if you ladies were out there. :)

    Tell me about your wedding.

    Any favorite vendors?

Are you trying to avoid/include any specific southern traditions/portrayals?

& please do share pictures as I am addicted to photographs. :)

Also feel free to ask questions. I would love to make friends.

I am! Sorry I missed it the first time...I'm getting married in Auburn.  I'm having sunflowers and the colors are navy, orange and yellow (not surprising lol).

We aren't really worrying about traditions to be honest, but I am getting some coozies. I feel like that's pretty southern.  :)

I got my one and only speeding ticket in Cullman!

    What about yours?

    Here's some venue pictures:

@MrsCoachBtoBee: Its okay. I was really losing hope though. I seriously haven't seen any other AL brides. Besides one I know and she has her whole wedding planned already.

Your venue looks gorgeous! FI's cousin is getting married in Auburn or very close to ther in October. I believe it will be held at a country club.

Koozies are fabulous! I wonder if that is only done in the south. I was talking to a few friends I've made from up north and we discovered that a Groom's cake is pretty much only done in the south. Pretty neat. Who could live without a whole chocolate cake at a wedding?

As far as our wedding goes I think it will be a mix of traditional and anything else I want to add or get rid of. ;) I'm avoiding cowboy boots even though they're the trend. I feel like it is very much far off from my personal style. I know when I visit ohio (where my fiance lives) they can't even tell my accent is from the south. I guess that is why I felt the need to ask about traditions. I'm a southern girl but not really "southern." We're going with a "Modern Roylty" theme. Which was chosen before the Royal Wedding. Boo UK stealing my rockin' ideas. :) There will be a horse & carriage. Our colors are a black and white damask with bright apple green accents. I've considered throwing a deep purple in there to make it more fall but I'm not sold on it yet. As far as finishes I think we're going to go with the crystal-ish accents and the iron to being in more of the black tones. You can see our venue at stonebridgewedding.com We're going to get married outside the front of the house over looking the pond.

Our color as close to a picture you can see of it.

    @MsBryt:  Thank you!

I didn't realize the groom's cake was southern!  Chocolate cake is pretty important...I'm not really sure what traditions are in other areas.

I love cowboy boots but I don't think they belong at my wedding either.

I love your colors! And your venue is gorgeous!

Where are you in planning?  I've got the venue, food, alcohol, photographer, cake, save the dates were ordered, wedding party is picked, dresses and tuxes are picked but not rented yet, invitations are picked but not ordered, got the dress and honeymoon is booked.

@MrsCoachBtoBee: As far as planning, we have the ceremony/recpetion venue. Which incudes: rehersal dinner, flowers, decorations, linens, catering, bartender, the carriage ride, officiant, and such.

We have our photographer booked, wedding party selected and even "proposed" to (here). I know what I want their dresses to look like. We're going in March or April to actually try on different styles and let them order them. (We;re waiting because one is pregnant and will pop out another princess 6 months before the wedding, Also one wants to drop  few pounds, etc) FI picked the tuxes he wants but keeps forgetting he picked them so I'm not really sure that is official yet. :)

I actually already have our STDs sitting in my room waiting for septmember to be addressed and mailed. Our friend is going to help us design and order our invitations. We have ideas what we want them to look like but that is all so far.

FI is in charge of honeymoon. I think we're scouting groupon and living social for a really great deal, or it will be hawaii on his brother's marriott points. Ha.

I've met with one DJ and he gave me a price of 650. I am debating over trying to meet with another or just taking it since they're probably the best in birmingham.

That is about it. I've mostly been working on the details of DIY projects I want at the wedding. I figure I can make choice about stuff when it gets closer to time (I'll be back in school full time and working) but right now while I have free time I need to get all time consuming projects completed. So I hand painted 12 parasols. You can see them on my DIY tab, and I am currently working on our cake topper I'm making from clay. I painted the bottom of and cleaned my prom shoes--which you saw. And I have a few more decorating and spiffing up projects to do before summer is over.

You've got a great deal accomplished. What other things do you plan on getting done next, if any?

@MsBryt: Sounds like we are both on top of things!

I was going to ask you about the STDs and when you were mailing them.  I was thinking end of September because I don't want them to be too early but people also go on vacation a lot during that time.

    Hawaii sounds great! :)

I got a DJ from South Carolina for $750 for a few hours.  He also plays the guitar and piano.  Ours is right behind a hotel and I wanted that instead of a band so he could keep playing after "quiet time."

You're doing a good bit of DIY!  I'm not really doing any...:/ I'm neither crafty nor creative lol.

Our guestbook and pen came today! :)

Next on my list is ordering the invitations and getting my grandmother's dress ordered.  I have to dress my family lol.  I need to figure out ceremony music and readings and vows and all that but I'm putting that off for a little while.

Oh thank god! Other Alabama brides! I was starting to think I was the only one on here! Hey there girls! I hope your wedding planning is going fabulously. I just nailed down a venue and a date this past weekend, and I'm off to try on dresses next weekend in my area.

@MrsCoachBtoBee: Ahh Guest book and pen! FUN. I think we're doing the frame with a picture of us and a matte around it so our guests can sign it and we can hang it up in the house afterwards. I also considered doing fabric sqaures and letting our guests sign their name with a piece of advice and having someone make it into a quilt for us afterwards so it can be used around the house and passed down to our kids later on.

Your DJ sounds awesome! I can't believe he is only $100 bucks more and he can play the piano which is my absolute favorite! Maybe I should keep looking but ohhh how I don't want to. :)

As far as DIY I am HUGE into DIY. I like to try things others haven't seen in our family before. Plus I love to paint. I took a lot of art in highschool and I still paint often during my free time. I just finished molding and baking our cake tppers, I'm waiting on them to cool so I can paint them and fix the bride's arms (HA, don't ask). I can't wait to show you when I finish!

Hawaii does sound great! Especially if it is for free (except for  our flights). However I have never been out of the country so that is probably going to be what we look into first. Especially if we can find an amazing all inclusive!

For ceremony music PLEASE check out the vitamin string quartet! They're my new addiction. Also Canon in D. My problem is I have too much ceremony music and not enough reception music. ;) Haha I don't have anything planned out though, I just know if a couple of songs that I am dying to use somewhere in there.

@spoiledvamp27: Hi. I am so glad you found us! I was really worried about there not being any other AL brides too! 2013, way cool! You're a bit farther out than we are but you seem to be right on track. How long have you been engaged? Any big visions or special plans you know you want to include?

@spoiledvamp27:  Hi! Where in Alabama are you getting married? The venue is an exciting part!

@MsBryt: We're doing the book and the picture! I hope it's not too much but I didn't figure the old folks would understand the picture and then the younger crowd can write notes.

I am excited about the DJ :)

That's awesome that you're artistic! How I wish I was...

Free honeymoon = awesome!!! We're going to Couples in Jamaica.

Oh wow. I just realized I hadn't changed my date on here yet. We actually moved the date up about 6 months, so now I'm planning for October 20th, 2012. A little closer to your dates. I have also picked out my attendants. We've been engaged for a little over 4 months. I've also gathered brooches for my "real touch roses and brooch hybrid" bouquet. I'm getting married in the Florence/Killen area. I think technically the venue is in Killen. Its on the river. I have some pictures here somewhere...

Oh and my hair is being done by FI's uncle, who did my hair for a wedding photoshoot for a local magazine a few years ago before FI and I dated. And our colors are going to be Black, White (or ivory), and Red. FI is having his groom's cake done by his aunt, who is a baker, but he doesn't like chocolate so its probably going to be boring white cake and I'll get the fun stuff in my bridal cake. Or pie. Or cupcakes. Thats the current topic of deabte. Also, we're probably having a friend of ours officiate the wedding. She already did the online ordaining thing "just in case." lol.

@spoiledvamp27: Ahh haha. October is a great time of the year to get married! & yeah you're right a bit closer to our dates. Haha. Well that is great. I love that we found each other! It will be nice to share it with you ladies.

    Your venue is so pretty!

My fiance's step mom is doing my hair. I first started using her because she'd cut my hair for free but after two times I was in love. I tell my fiance all the time now he could never take her away and that when I move to ohio i'm flying home for hair cuts. Haha.

In our relatonship I don't eat the choclate. :) But I know the family loves it so the groom's cake will be for them.

@MrsCoachBtoBee: I had considered our picture and the squares being too much but I don't think so. Yours definitely won't be too much. :)

Ooooh your honeymoon sounds awesome! Free is great too. Haha I think we can use his marriott points in other countries too though. So I have no idea what we will end up doing. I'm leaving it up to the Mister.

@MsBryt: Thank you :) Its a family friend's house. We were originally looking at a victorian house in Tuscumbia for the wedding, but this venue was free and cut down drastically on retals since a lot was already available in the structure of the venue. Dance floor area with pre-hung wedding lights and surrounding uplighting? Check. Stage-like area for the band with electricity already running to it? Check. Etc. And its so pretty that my decorations are also going to be cut down considerably from my original thougts.

@spoiledvamp27:oh snap! I love great deals like that. They just can't be beat.

@Jamie2887: Hunstville isn't too far away from where our venue is. Maybe like 20 minutes? We're considering staying there & flying out of there for our honeymoon since it is so close.

Where at in hunstville? Do you have anything special planned or left to plan ;) Haha You can do it. 2 months is so close but if you use your time wisely it shouldn't be too stressful. Goodluck!

Have you ladies considered having your make-up done? I've decided the airbrush foundation is a must for myself since we're getting married outside in the heat. I haven't found anyone too close that is a good price with experience yet. I'd love if you bees have any suggestions!

@MsBryt: I'm probably doing my own makeup, although I've been looking into getting my own personal airbrush system. I'm a bit of a makeup artist. I haven't done weddings. I usually do theatrical work and tattoo cover-up for shows, but I'm pretty confident in my knowledge. Besides, I have over a year to perfect the system. :D

@MsBryt: Haha, no I haven't. But I'm sure they're outrageous. I've been debating doing some freelance work for proms and things. I'm sure it would rack up pretty quickly. But I agree, getting pampered really is fun. I just got a manicure and pedicure with my mom a few days ago. I pretty much never get my nails done, but its fun every once in a while. And I'm using that new gel polish that seriously lasts like three weeks. Probably longer, but eventually they grow out. I got a french manicure. Nail polish never lasts more than a day on me. I'm now at the end of day two and not a single chip. :D If it works out well, I may do my nails like this for the wedding. That way I won't have to worry about chipping any of my polish on the day of.

@MrsCoachBtoBee: Haha. That's okay. I grew up an auburn fan actually! I tell everyone it is because I didn't know any better then though ;) Im glad you liked them. I showed them to FMIL tonight. She was so excited! It made me light up like a christmas tree.

ALSO! We have first dance song progress. FI said he loved the idea of a song for the first time! It is of course a popuar song but whatever. I really like it also & I don't think anyone in our mound of weddings to attend this year will use it before we get to. You just never know though. Too, I don't mind sharing songs just I would really like to try to avoid sharing with cose family and friends.

Did you ladies make any progress this weekend?

Alabama brides! I'm new to the Wedding Bee, and it is nice to see some Southern Ladies planning the day of their dreams. I love looking at the photos~ so keep them coming. It always gives me ideas for cake toppers.

We had a beautiful wedding at The Caribe in Orange Beach, Alabama. It wasn't 'toes in the sand' but we soon realized that was going to create more trouble than we needed. We had a fabulous day by the lazy river . . . over looking the beach. Cool

Hey ladies! How's the planning going? I've got the dress, the venue, the date (we moved it up another week due to cold weather), the hairsylist (my future uncle), the groom's cake, ceremony and reception layout planned, a time, & our attendants.

I've got appointments set up for bridesmaids dresses, and am working on appointments for florist, baker, photographer, and dj.

I've also got a HUGE checklist and a wedding planning binder that I'm constantly updating.
