Any capital region brides out there. I would love to compare ideas :)
@upstatebroad: Where are you getting married? I think i might have commented after you before. Are you using Sawicki Studios and Classe catering?
@FutureMrsSitler: Hi there!
@TinyTina: HI there to you also.. I would love to hear everyones details!
My fiance is from there...where in Albany are you ladies getting married at? It's an interesting area up there. I've been there many times! Good luck! He would know of good dj's as he used to be one if you need help w/that!
@yearns4god: Hi there.. Were getting married at 11 North Pearl, its an old bank building! I personally think ALbany is pretty ho hum.. but hey i make do!!! Heres a pic of my venue and if i ned any help with a dj i will let you know.. thanks

We work in Albany but live in Saratoga. I can still be part of the Albany club though, right? I do spend 40 hours a week there! =)
@UpstateCait: OF course.. Its like I already know you, we have commented on many of the same posts . lol
Who are you using as your photographer??
@jenlee1: We're using Camera Famousa. No-one I've spoken with thus far has known them but they really do great work.
@UpstateCait: Haha FI and I live in Westchester, so I hope I can still be included!! I'm originally from Schenectady County.
We're getting married at Franklin Plaza. And just cuz I like to show it off...

@jenlee1: We are getting married at the Canfield Casino in Congress Park!
I'm a waiting bee, does that count? Think it's getting close :)
You all have beautiful venues! UpstateBroad, Canfield Casino is top on my list! Who are you having cater your wedding?
@Ms. Dove: Thank you! We are having Classe catering in Albany cater.
I'm not an Albany bride, but lived/worked in Albany, Saratoga and Lake George area for the last 6 years or so as a wedding coordinator.
If anyone needs any help let me know :)
@thewheelsonthebus: Thanks I will keep that in mind!
@upstatebroad: I Think Classe is one of the best if not the best around:)
@thewheelsonthebus: Actually.. maybe you can answer this question! SInce you were a wedding coordinator you obviously have seen many a wedding ! Do you think having a basket of flip flops is normal at an indoor wedding ? Or is it more for outdoor beach weddings? Any thoughts would be great. Having a debate with a fellow bride friend!~
Ohh - I'm a capital region bride too...i think. We haven't decided if we're getting married in Capital Region or WNY. All those venues are beautiful!!
I'm a capital region bride too! Our wedding will be in Ballston Spa (close to Albany), at my parents house. We are looking into using classe catering as well...they seem to be the best bet so far!
@jenlee1: So yeah... guess who didn't see this post until today?! Lame me! I've seen the flip flops at indoor weddings, but it's been at lakeside locations.
While I LOVEEEE my flip flops and have a TON (10 years in Miami will do that for your closet) I'm not providing any at my wedding. It's one more thing that is usually left behind which to me means money left on the table.
:)
I just had to come back and update - I posted a couple months ago that I was a waiting bee. Well I'm not waiting as of about a month ago :) And we decided on Canfield Casino! Sooo excited. It was hard to choose, there are lots of great venues - looking forward to hearing more about all of your wedding planning experiences . . . .
@Ms. Dove: Congrats on your engagement! The Canfield Casino is gorgeous. We were actually engaged in Congress Park so the Canfield was on our short list but we ultimately decided to go with a LG venue since we’re having a fall themed wedding.
Another capital region bride here :). I live just outside Boston, but I'm originally from Clifton Park. We're getting married and having our reception at the Gideon Putnam in Saratoga next Memorial day.
And I concur on Canfield Casino - so pretty! I love the ceiling in there. But with all our other expenses I didn't think we could swing the facility fee.
@UpstateCait: thank you! lg will be beautiful with the fall colors. i love that you got engaged in congress park, it's a beautiful place!
future mrsb - i think the gideon putnam is lovely :) and that's a great time of year too.
I'm from Albany.... 518 represent!!!
but I now live elsewhere. My horse and my family are still up there :)
Albany (ish) bride here too, yay!! I'm from Latham, FI is from Nassua, currently living in Clifton Park and looking to get married in Saratoga LOL...do I still count?? This is an old thread, so if anyone has any updates I'd love to hear them!! I'm brand new ;)
@MerryWidow: That totally counts! :) What venues are you looking into?
I'll be a capital area bride. Most of FI's close family lives in Clifton Park, so the closer to there, the better! Still looking for that perfect venue that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Anyone got any really simple venue ideas? Indoor or out, as long as I can bring most of my own food. Doubt we'll have more than 100 people.
@TinyTina: Wow, I never saw this before...sorry!! We're actually planning a picnic wedding at SPAC for next spring. LOTS of time to plan (thankfully, because I'm clueless) but I'm kind of anxious for it just to be here already LOL.
@MerryWidow: My parents live in CP, that's where I grew up! And we're getting married in Saratoga too. We'll be right next to SPAC at the Gideon Putnam.
@Future MrsB: Ooh, it's BEAUTIFUL there!! That was my 'Best Case Scenario' venue. I figured, it was one of the most beautiful places I'd ever seen, so if all of my DIY ideas turn out to be super pricey, I'll say forget the casual picnic (which I actually LOVE) and go there instead LOL.
@Future MrsB & @MerryWidow: The Gideon is beautiful and the food is to DIE for!
I'm totally going to try to sneak over and get pictures sometime between now and the wedding...but really all of SPAC is beautiful. I love the beauty of the fancy places, they remind me of fairytales and I just smile inside but they're not for me. We're very much jeans and t-shirt people, no frills, etc. and I can't imagine we'd enjoy ourselves which is why we went the picnic route. Totally laid back, relatively casual with food you eat with your fingers
LOL
@UpstateCait: Yeah, we ate brunch there after Thanksgiving, and it was AMAZING.
@MerryWidow: Haha, I like the frills ;). If budget wasn't a concern, I'd totally have gone for the Canfield Casino. The ceiling alone in that place is unbelievable. But a picnic wedding sounds like a lot of fun. We knew without a doubt we wanted to get married outside. Fingers crossed the May weather is good this year.
@Future MrsB: We've been there for brunch a few times and it was phenominal. Actually, I think we're going back for Valentines Day (though it will be the Sunday before or after) this year. If budget wasn't a concern, I totally would have jumped at the chance to get married at GP. Then again, I loved getting married on the lake. There are SOOO many amazing venues in this area.
