Martha Stewart has some really cute STD ideas here.
We aren't sure what we're doing yet, but we're probably just going to design a cute postcard - simple, cute, and cheap!
I did a save the date magnet already... Pretty much designed it myself and inserted a picture i had of us. I sent out around 65 and it wasnt that expensive. People really appreciated it since there are so many wedding approaching in the next year!
FH & I created our own DVD (he's in the movie industry & we're both movie buffs)! It was a smashing HIT! Everyone loved it & we've already got 20% of our guests RSVPed on our website...this with just the STD! Can't wait to get our rather non-traditional invites out!
It took a while to make (about 6 weeks), but that was mostly in the brainstorming stage. Once FH completed the editing & I had designed the label, it rolled out in 4 days. Cost: $2.43 each, which included: the DVD, the label, the plastic case for the DVD, the square envelope, the personalized embossed sticker, & $0.81 postage. (Granted, we only have 68 guests/30 parties, so although $2.50 sounds expensive, it was less than $75 for us).
Good Luck with whatever you choose!
We're sending STDs (only 'cause so many of our guests are out-of-town family who we don't talk to a lot, though, and 'cause I LURVE me some crafting!). I like the magnet idea, as well as postcards. Still not sure what we'll end up doing, though. : ) We're definitely going to use our engagement photos, though!
So originally i wanted to do STD magnets. Then i calculated it and it was gonna be kind of pricey. So what I did instead was design a STD and then printed 3x5 pics off at walgreens. Minus the postage, cost me just over $20.
here is a pic of ours, I can't find the FINAL file - but under our names I put the location and our wedding website
We're doing ours Electronically, because our budget needs as many cuts as possible.
We sent out postcards. They were really easy to design on Zazzle!
Mrs. Dumpling had the cutest idea ever. I loved her save the date. I just did the magnets.
I love the postcard thing, or else a cute little photobooth set of pictures.
Magnets are nice, but I'm a really paper-oriented person, so I'd rather have mine on paper! We're either going with vintage postcards or picture cards, I think.

Hey everyone! I'm looking for something different...several of my friends are getting married next year and I want to stand out. I'm looking for something unique for our save-the-date cards...something other than just cardstock or magnets! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
