I’m an August 23rd bride and we only picked our date two months ago so we are a little behind too. Despite that, were able to get our #1 favorite venue (caterer is included with the venue), DJ, and photographer! I ordered my dress a couple days after we booked our venue (I had to pay for them to rush make it, though). There are still more things to book but so far things are moving right along. I am sure you will be fine too. Good luck and happy planning!

August 23rd has been on my mind since November.  I’m ordering my dress custome fit from china to save on cost, our wedding is DIY, picked our invitations out tonight, little late on that one I know.  Got an awesome deal on our cake today, we’ve been quoated $300 a few times and on a zero budget it didnt look possible, but today we got someone down to $150!!  We are getting married in our local Farmers Market, its an open air market, so its pretty cool, in door, but also outdoor.  Our super fab wedding in all looks like its going to run us under $1000!  Now all the big stuff is out of the way but I know theres got to be a million little things I’m not thinking of yet…grrr

We’re having hawiian chicken but to save on cost we’re asking lots of women from our church to make a dish for the reception, I’ve always loved cover dish dinners.  I picked out a few dresses on ebay, super low price but I was worried about what they would look like on me so I picked my favorites and when the bridesmaid went to find a dress I told the bridal store what I was looking for and tried on dress after dress not worring about the price tag and matched it close as possible to the one on ebay.  Some are scared to go that route but I have before and the dress at the store was $1200, my dress…$160, made to fit me!!!!!

We’re getting our invitations together and they’re almost ready to mail. Tonight we’ll finish assembling them and print out the envelopes and I hope to have them in the mailbox Tuesday or Wednesday! A bit ahead of the technical ettiquette guidelines but we have a fair number of out of towners and we didn’t do an official save the date, we’ve just spread the word in advance by word of mouth mostly.

The next big project will be planning the rehearsal dinner since I guess we can assume at this point that FI’s family isn’t going to step in and offer to. I have to plan out the whole ceremony (a bit complicated there because it’s a bilingual wedding!). I haven’t even given a thought to favours. Then I have tons of just smaller details to figure out – we’ve picked out our rings but we need to actually order them, need to find a suit for my FI, find a makeup artist, shoes, jewelry, transportation… I actually thought I was doing pretty well but now I realize I actually still have a ton to do, uh oh :P.

we accidently secured a location for our rehersal and dinner over the weekend, for free at one of the fanciest halls in town, just hasnt been used in a while so the owners wanted to showcase it and mentioned having a mock wedding there and we threw in we needed a place to reherse and that was that, plus with all the things we’ve done they asked us to help host a bridal expo for future brides. our invitations have been picked and designed but not ordered yet due to finances so we decided to send out a vertual save the date to everyone like on facebook and such, which is an idea I got from good luck banners that pageant moms would post for their daughters back when I judged, it will be ready in a day or so, looking forward to it.  got our flowers for the men in the mail today and my moms coursage, was happy with hers but the dudes flowers look great and only cost $15 for all of them!!!  my FI’s mom is out of the picture and his father pasted away so we dont have help with the rehersal dinner either, and although I have got his opinion on everything for the wedding and gave him options from my choices to choose from i told him the rehersal dinner is all on him since its the grooms job, he decided on a low counrt boil as the food..cant wait to see how this turns out lol
