Ooh I don’t know – maybe?  It’s humid there, right?  I’m almost more worried about the cold… my whole event is outside (with a tent), and once the sun goes down here in Wyoming it gets CHILLY!  I’m going to warn everyone to bring layers, including pants to throw on under a dress.  We’ll have a bonfire too.  But people who don’t live at high elevation really don’t comprehend how the temps drop at night, even in the summer…

actually I thought it would be pleasant, not too cold, not too hot for my NJ wedding on September 22…it was 85 and my dress felt like I was wearing a hefty bag…and I was wearing Spanx pantyhose, so they had to come off midway through my party…so I do understand your concern (neither the church or the restaurant had A/C on that day, but it wasn’t too bad…)

The next day the temps dropped back to normal and we were freezing!

I got married outdoors in Minnesota in August and it was quite warm that day. No one complained and to my knowledge everyone had a great time. I changed into a short dress for my reception or I would have DIED and I think a fwe of our guests changed into more comfortable clothing (like our parents who were with us all day and doing a lot of work, therefor they were considerably warmer than our average guest). Just be sure you provide a lot of ice and beverages and that there is shade at your venue (we had tents for our guests).

I don’t know what the weather is like on that side of the country but my wedding is in Colorado in the mountains and everything will be outdoor without a tent and I’m MUCH more worried about it being too cold after the sun sets more than anything. You could always put out a cute basket of fans for everyone if you are worried about the heat. …..and lots of cold margaritas. MmMmmmm.

TBH, yes, I am a little worried. This is why the boys are wearing vests and shirts with the sleeves rolled up.

Eek!  Around here…I’d be worried, especially without air conditioning.  But I’ve never been to Minnesota so I’m not sure how your averages are. At least it’s late late August, so by then around here the 100 degree days are usually gone.

Is it during the day or at night?  Provide some fans to the guests at the ceremony and some water definitely.  Generally the heat is easier to bear at night when the sun isn’t shining on you directly.  I think once the sun goes down everything would be fine for August 31

i was worried about that as well. i live in michigan and the humidity in the summer is crazy. i attended an outdoor ceremony at the end of july this summer and my fiance and i -no joke- had to go shower in between the ceremony and reception because we were so hot and sweaty and gross. i’m also getting married in august, so i chose to have an indoor ceremony and reception  because the weather is just so unpredicatble i didn’t want to have any extra stress. i’m not sure how the weather is in august where you live, but i would definitely think about getting some type of air conditioning or fans just in case.

Honestly I’m in Illinois and I’m worried I purposley planned a venue where the inside is beautiful incase I need to move inside I’m also having my groomsmen buy 2 shirts. However I think you should be fine as long as you have shade and lots of drinks!

*Raises hand*

I am so worried but that is why we are doing an evening wedding and a indoor reception!  I am just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn’t rain and we can still do the ceremony outside (you never know with Oregon Weather…)

@Orchd12:  Why are you having your groomsmen buy two shirts?

I’m a little worried FI will faint at the altar because there is no air conditioning at the church. Everyone will be fine at the reception though since it is air conditioned. Our ceremony is at 5pm so it should be a little cooler by that time of day.

YES!  We actually changed our desired cocktail hour location (we are getting married at a zoo, they allow the cocktail hour to be in one of a few different exhibits) because the one we wanted would not have air conditioning.  But our ceremony will be outside.  I’m determined to have my hair down because to put it up is just not me, but the heat is probably the only but biggest reason I would consider putting it up.

@vorpalette: yay shirt and vests!  FI actually had the same idea just because he wants our wedding to be “fun” – but it’s perfect for August when it’ll probably be 80-90 degrees >_<

To all my fellow August brides, here’s a long range weather predictor, customizable to country/state/city (altho it doesn’t include ALL cities)!!  It claims 83% accuracy… http://theweatherwiz.com/index.htm
