Normally I'm a Bombers supporter, but for today GO CATS! Anything is better than having to listen to all the bloody Pies supporters for another year.
I'm from Melbourne so I don't really know much about NRL, But I guess I'm going for Manly to show those Kiwis a thing or two.
Anyone else watching? Who do you support?
I don't give two hoots about the AFL, but as for the NRL: Go the Warriors!!!!! hehe.
*cough* *cough* the world cup rubgy???
aussies won and currently tonga beating france - hubby just rang to give me the scores as im in the office today
@eloping: ...Rugby? Haha, I have no idea. Typical Melbournian.
@earrings: I was wondering if you'd pop in to this thread! :)
@eloping- Im watching the world cup rugby! Feeling excited for the Italy-Ireland and NZ-Canada games tomorrow. I will be supporting Ireland and NZ of course :D
@eloping: YEAH BABY! I've gotten so into it this year!! This Tonga game is intense, and its making me really happy cause Canada beat Tonga 2 weeks ago - if they beat France it feels a bit like justice.
I will be watching the NRL finals tomoz as well, GO THE WARRIORS! ANYONE BUT MANLY!
AFL isn't really my cup of tea, though i do enjoy their bodies.
@Roux: Ha, I couldnt resist
@ScarletBegonia: Yay! Another Warriors supporter!
@earrings: sorry but we need ireland to lose to give the aussies some breathing space
btw, last year we went to Dunedin for 2 days just so hubby can say hes been there - looking forward to going back to NZ for christmas :)
@ScarletBegonia: Ha! Fair enough :) I have to say, I do admire the Canadians' passion.
@ScarletBegonia: You have to admit the AFL boys are much hotter, they even have necks!
Cat just hit the lead! Jimmy Bartel for Norm Smith Medal!
We'll be rooting for the Warriors tomorrow too. Huzzah! :)
Don't watch AFL (yick!)
i must say the US team has improved... i remember their first world cup and they were trying to play their football rules and didnt get the forward pass rule
one of their guys was almost crying during the anthem last week - man up dude!
What type of parent names their child Steele Sidebottom?!?
@eloping:That's true about the aussies needing some breathing room. I cant fight my Irish blood though! That's great that you're coming to NZ for Christmas :) We were originally going to California to be with Mr E's family, but that fell through so Im looking forward to showing him what a "real" kiwi Christmas is like with just the two of us.
@jaguar:Aw, you're a woman with good taste (in my heavily biased opinion) :P
We need more Victorian Bees on this thread.. No one appreciates AFL!
You should all watch it for a bit, hot muscley guys running around in the rain in little shorts!
@Roux: Oh, without a doubt the AFL-ers have the best bodies in sport. No contest.
@eloping: aw i love the american anthem - it makes me tear up & I'm not even american! And sportsmen are allowed to cry at appropriate times i reckon - i agree maybe the anthem isn't an appropriate time - but i still love to see it!
@earrings: my husband has a cupboard full of rugby jerseys from all over the world so he and a guy at work have been betting and loser has to wear winners choice
hubby had to wear a NZ jersey the other day and by the end of the day he had a postit stuck to him, simply saying "lost the bet"
@ScarletBegonia: i love the Sth African and NZ anthem - no idea what they are saying for half of them though
@eloping: whereabouts are you going in NZ? If you're in Auckland, you should check out Waiheke Island - i was going to get married there, its my #1 favorite place on earth!
@eloping:Haha! Classic. Oh, and I second @ScarletBegonia's suggestion about Waiheke Island. Otherwise places like Nelson, etc are always so lovely in summer. I would definitely not recommend Palmerston North (where I live). Too windy and cold!
@ScarletBegonia: this trip is all south island
last christmas was Rotorua (4nights), Dunedin (2 nights), Christchurch (4 nights)
this trip is Dunedin (4nights), Milford Sound (4 nights) and Queenstown (3 nights)
we hope to scuba dive this trip at Milford and a return trip to the Speights Brewery because hubby is a sad pitiful creature that enjoyed it the first time so much he wants to go back
heheehh - my boss is french
i told hubby when we go to france next year we should take our wallabies jerseys :)
@eloping: Sounds lovely - I did a Sth Island trip at the beginning of this year and didn't go to any of those places :( we stayed mostly in the north of the south - Chch, Kaikoura, Akaroa, Lake Tekapo, and the Marlborough wine region. It was amazing, but I wish we'd seen more! Hope you have a great time, we'll be in cold cold cold Canada, then hot hot hot Mexico this christmas!
@eloping: That sounds amazing! We are considering NZ for our honeymoon, neither of us has been before, so I'll be looking forward to hearing how your trip goes!
@eloping: Good choices! I hope you have a lovely time :) We're thinking of doing a South Island road trip too, just cant make up our minds.
@ScarletBegonia: Yeah TONGA!!!
Alright, now Im off to watch a movie with my husband :P TTFN!
@ScarletBegonia: we're thinking if we do a 3rd trip we will do queenstown to the glaziers/springs and back to christchurch - its such a enjoyable country
years ago i did Alaska for 10weeks and a guy was always saying "this is just like home" and now i understand - beautiful country
and the exchange rate helps :)
@Roux: i really liked NZ - we went with no expectations and liked it so much we were already saying "when we come back" at the airport
unless you want something hot - fiji, tonga, nuie, cook island, png.... also a few hours away by plane
@Roux: You TOTALLY should do NZ for your honeymoon! If you're going right after your wedding, it'll be nice & hot & lovely!! And theres so much to do.
@eloping: I've been to Fiji and loved it there! We really want to honeymoon somewhere neither of us have been to, so maybe NZ. We won't be honeymooning until June 2013 at the earliest so we have plenty of time to research.
I think Geelong might have it! up by 21 points with 13 minutes to go!
@eloping: Mr. Roux loves the cold, he loves Ballarat and wants to move to Tassie. Crazy Man. He'd love NZ in June but I'm thinking Thailand sounds warmer and sunnier!
