@ladyamalthea:  I ordered a custom dress locally to you but not me- the designer is in seattle and we’re in NYC! I had a stellar experience- she is not from etsy.  She delivered the dress completely on-time and in WAY less time than a “normal” bridal boutique, plus its completely custom so I don’t need alterations or a fitting or anything. It fits like a glove and I love it! I actually just got it today, you can look at my thread history for one I started.  The designer is Wai Ching and I found her via pinterest.

@ladyamalthea:  I did not get swatches, but I sent her a picture of a bouquet I wanted to mimic the feel and colors of and she did it swimmingly.  This is basically what I sent her:

and I told her I wanted the top to be ivory, not white and to add cap sleeves.  I think she did a stellar job- the back is a corset with a modesty panel (no backfat for me, pls.)  I actually had FI measure me and then I reduced in the places I know I lose weight the fastest- I took 2 inches off the waist, .5 inches off the hip and the over and under bust, but left the bust the same because I think I might get a pushup bra (Im very petite up top!)  She actually suggested also making it a more a-line shape based on my measurements because Im so bottom-heavy. Glad I did!

Here’s a full pic (no bra) so you can see the fit. It fits like a GLOVE. I couldnt be happier

And, for fun, the cape I bought to go with it:

Still on the fence about the bra…now to find shoes!

OH and its actually a zipper with a corset over it- the zipper fits really well, but I can cinch the top in with the corset which is good because, again, I have the bust of a 13 year old.

I tried on like 80 dresses and none were right, so I sought out a more…creative local bridal store, where I proceeded to find 4 dresses I liked parts of. We sat down and she drew out what it would look like, I tweaked basically everything to exactly what I wanted; added the yellow details, the beading, and the back to show off my tattoo.

It was actually terrifying because she didn’t finish it until August 3rd…I got married August 17th….so it was sort of a “oh man I really hope you made exactly what I wanted” kind of thing.

I don’t think another off the shelf dress could ever have been this perfect for me.
