No, but I went a few years ago.  I stayed at the Iberostar Cozumel and LOVED it!  Instead of one big hotel, they have small (I think 4 or 8 room) huts.  The hotel room was gorgeous and we had an ocean view from our window.

Definitely take a boat over to Playa Del Carmen and go shopping.  There's a gorgeous public beach, and a bar called the Blue Parrot that has amazing margaritas.  Walk around the market and get $1 beers and pretty jewelry.  Don't be afraid to haggle.

Cozumel's port also has a cute shopping/market area that I would definitely recommend going to.

We're planning on taking a boat to Cozumel one day of our honeymoon, since we're staying at a resort in Playa Del Carmen.  FI's dad went there, he said it was beautiful and a lot of fun! Good luck in your planning :)

Have you been snorkeling?  I'd take a day trip and do that.  There's a place called Xel-Ha (pronounced Shell-ha) that is essentially a man-made reef, but it's gorgeous and good for snorkel rookies.  You'll see more fish than on an open water snorkeling trip, and you are able to get out of the water and onto land as often as you want.

We ate at a restaurant in Playa called El Pescador (on 5th ave, right in downtown Playa) which was absolutely delicious.  We went for my Dad's birthday and we called ahead with some vague instructions (basically like "make the table look festive") and when we got there, they had an outdoor table set up for us with a serape, sombrero, a cake, balloons, a mariachi band, a bottle of Don Julio, and they cooked dinner tableside.  It was really special.

Oh, and the "jungle boat tour" SUCKED.  Stay away from that one.

I went to Cozumel last summer.  I had a great time but I went specifically for a dive trip.  Some of the best diving I have done...ever!

We stayed at the Occidental Grand Cozumel.

Have a great trip on your honeymoon to Cozumel.  The island is so much fun.  I went there two years ago with my bf and had a blast.  We stayed at an all inclusive - I think it was called the Melia?  I did a lot of research before - not on the hotel - but the hotel turned out to be fine.  Definitely rent a car - I can't find all of my notes from the trip...but there is one company that charges significantly less than the others - a car is so easy there.  I think the spot was just past senior frogs....Also we ate at this amazing restaurant that we still frequently talk about - It was called La Conchita del Caribe - at the time it was a local non-touristy restaurant situated in a neighborhood.  You'd have to take a cab there.  The shrimp was incredible and the habanero sauce extra spicy!  Chen Rio beach is gorgeous.  Do not bother trying to arrange for a "snorkeling" trip with the people by the cruise ships off the pier in San Miguel. It was the biggest rip off.  I saw tan colored fish and they only took me 300 yards away from the ships!!  Go snorkeling at San Francisco Bay. Don't forget to bargain!

if you guys can't do mopeds, you can rent cars for not much more! you can rent a little vw bug convertible for 80 bucks on the island - only catch is it's a stick. You can also rent jeeps for a little more money! I can't recommend it enough :) Also I second snorkeling, and I'm a huge fan of night life in playa! :)

I went to Cozumel a few years ago. Definitely check out Xel-Ha. The water is brackish (half fresh water half sea water) and so it looks like youre swimming in oily water. The snorkeling is excellent (saw stingrays!). There are beautiful mangroves. While youre walking the trails there are holes that go down to the water. You can see swimmers beneath you. It's so cool. If youre doing the inner tubes (lazy river kind of thing) there are cliffs that you can jump off of. They are pretty high but SO MUCH FUN. There are photographers who get your pic. We went to Playa Del Carmen the year after and made another visit! Canakanaab Natural Park..the fish there are HUGE. However, one of the best snorkeling spots I have ever experienced is at Sunset Beach. Everytime we went we were the only ones there which seemed strange (and there is street parking)...but the snorkeling is amazing. I still have a conch (sp?) shell that i collected (don't worry, there was no animal living in it!).....have a BLAST! i am extremely jealous

PS - We also stayed at Iberostar. Loved it. Beautiful vegetation and even saw parrots and iguanas...
