i’ve been terrified about the day I have to buy a dress & have to fit in it a year later. commenting to follow. going dress shopping in March, but i’ll be working with a personal trainer all the way up to the wedding, and beyond. I’d like to think i’ll have to get it taken in & not let out! Sealed

@jwdesiree:  I lost a little weight after my first fitting.  It was enough that after my last fitting, she took it in a little more. The back of it was a corset so it wasn’t a huge deal and knew it would fit either way. We choose to take it in so the corset lacing looked a little better.

@jwdesiree:  also curious.  I’m pretty sure they said that the last fitting (2 weeks before) is the just in case fitting.  The first one is the big changes, the 2nd is the tweaks and then the 3rd is making sure things are still good.  All of those are in 3 months and I think there’s only a month between 2 & 3 – I can’t imagine losing so much weight between those that the dress would need mega alterations..

Commenting to follow as well. My dress is expected to come in end of this month and I am currently on the off season for my sport. I am so nervous that when the season starts in April, my body will change. I work out, but it is different when I start playing.

This probably depends on the alterations agreement you have with the salon.  My agreement was that they would do all the alterations for a flat fee until I was happy.  I had my dress taken several times over the course of about 6 months.  The last time was 2 weeks before my wedding.  But unfortuantely, I dropped a huge amount of weight in the last 2 weeks, so my dress was way too big.  It was really weird though; I’ve never lost weight like that before so there was no way to anticipate it.  I think it was stress/anxiety.  For the most part, I don’t think it was too noticeable.  I can see my dress sticking up off my chest in certain photos and I wish I had had it more fitted.  I would recommend to ALL brides that they get their dress fitted as close to their wedding as possible.  A good salon can get alterations done in 1-2 days.  Mine did it in about 4 hours when I freaked out that it didn’t fit right the day I was picking it up.

i was still losing a little bit of weight up until about my last fitting. i had to stop at that point or my dress would have had to have another significant alteration. as it was, my dress was comfortable in the hips, and it actually could have been ever so slightly tightened there, but i just left it as is and stopped dieting at that point.

@jwdesiree:  I’m in the middle of my alterations saga at the moment. My dress was huge at first, so they took it in at my first one. I just had my second fitting, after the holidays and of course, on the first day of my period so I was bloated as all get out and had eaten everything on sight over Christmas. I’m back on my workout routine so I’ve got another one scheduled in two weeks, and then have my final check/emergency alterations appointment the Monday before our wedding. All in, there are 4 fittings in my case.

Thankfully, they don’t charge for additional alterations needed to perfect it. It sucks and is time consuming, but at least the dress will be perfect!
