My dress had a natural waist and a full a-line/ballgown type skirt and I just had cups sewn in. Unless you’re seeing problem areas when you try on the dress, I don’t think it’s really worth the discomfort. The corset in my dress was enough for me, lol.

I’m probably going to skip it.  I am wearing Cleo by Maggie Sottero…. fit and flare with a corset back.  I feel like it’s going to be hard enough to move.  And, the area that I mostly pull in with Spanx is my waist… which is set with the corset anyway.  Also thinking of having cups sewn in.

I’m a size 12 and 5’4″.

I am going without – only because I want to be comfortable and enjoy myself!!

I just spoke to the seamstress during my fitting and she thinks I should skip them. The dress holds everything in well, and it will be super hot with them on. I’m happy I will be able to breathe/eat!

I don’t plan on wearing any shapewear, except a good bra.  My dress is pretty flattering, and it hides my trouble areas.   I can’t imagine having to go to the bathroom and having to wrangle Spanx and a wedding dress in order to pee :-

I’d like to not wear shapewear because my dress is hot enough on its own, ugh. But my dress has a dropped waist and my tummy is my problem area so I need something to suck it in. If you can pull it off without one, definitely skip it.

I was actually told by the store and the seamstress NOT to wear a bra or shapewear as it would make funny lines in the dress and it wouldn’t sit as nicely. I ended up only wearing white lace underwear.

I had Maggie Sottero Gatsby, a sheath dress, and I’m 5’3 (+3″ heels) and wore a size 16. I went without shapewear, and though there are some spots in my pictures that I wish were a little smoother, I think I’m the only one that sees it, and I’m glad I went for comfort on my wedding day. I wore Spanx for my bridal shots and hated every minute… plus, they created other lumps and bumps.

I had cups sewn in and I’m just wearing normal nude-coloured undies. Comfort all the way.

@Honey-Bee:  I wore some really comfy white bike shorts under my dress. I did that only because I hate the feeling of my thighs touching when they get sweaty (and under my dress was quite warm.)

I always wear the shorts type of spanx under dresses because my thighs rub together… Im not sure what will be worse spanx or the rubbing.  My dress is also a poofy dress so I did think about it.  Im thinking I will just get a bigger pair so they wont be as tight, or maybe the new jockey brand of shorts… not sure yet.
