Hi Kayrie! I am an audiologist so I (obvs) don’t do these surgeries but I have seen lots of patients after them! Do you know what kind of surgery you’ll be having (canal wall down or canal wall up mastoidectomy)? It will probably be an outpatient/same-day surgery procedure (but not always). You’ll probably be laid up for at least a week. You’ll have an incision site behind your ear.

One last piece of advice: Get in with a surgeon at a large hospital who does these all the time! You want someone for whom these surgeries are totally routine. 🙂
