We’ve decided to get married in September (exact date is still up in the air – we really need to talk to family out of town before deciding). My boyfriend is waiting for some money to come in to buy my ring – this has delayed our engagement 2 months now and is the reason I know it’s coming. Hopefully it will happen soon and then I can stop stressing.
Anyways, I’ve been watching way too many wedding shows and I’m feeling the time crunch. He wants to start planning now (believe me I have been) but I feel like I can’t get much done without an exact date and officially being engaged. I’ve found a venue, catering, surfed the web for wedding party attire/my dress, located bartender & photobooth, somewhat decided on colors, shopped DJs and photographers, looked into honeymoon, and worked on other details. But it’s very hard to budget/finalize things without talking to family first. I’m hoping to split the honeymoon/wedding in thirds – 1/3 – us, 1/3 my family, 1/3 – his family. Problem is, this isn’t finalized. I really don’t want to start shelling out our money, and blow through our budget, without knowing how much we have to work with.
Should I hold off until I’m officially engaged? Is 6 months long enough to plan? Is there anything I should/can do now? Sorry so many questions – just getting super stressed about the short engagement.
