Not me, but a close friend of mine is going that route because she needs health insurance.

We thought about doing it. He’s in the military, so it would have made several things easier on us (he was moving bases, insurance, financial aid for school) but we knew that our families would hate it. Plus, we really just wanted to be married.

We didnt do it in the end. I mentioned the idea in passing to my mother one day and she absolutely blew her stack.

I think a lot of people do it for military health insurance, college tuition, etc.  Financially it is the best for them.  I wish we could do it but then again, there are reasons also for waiting–parents cover our health insurance and the Catholic Church doesn’t allow it.

I was… it was for religious and monetary reasons. My husband is in the military and they make it nearly impossible to live together/move when you aren’t married. Also his BAH was very low and we were having a really hard time making it.

Nobody except for my mom and close friends know to this day, and I plan on keeping it that way. It was ever-so-romantic to get married with two witnesses and my adorable husband. It did make the whole walking down the aisle thing less scary, and I felt much less anxious and so did he.

Maybe not right for everyone, but definitely for us it was the best decision!

I will be on Nov. 23! My Fiance is also in the military and will be coming home from Iraq the week before Thanksgiving. Like everyone else its mainly for insurance and paperwork purposes but slightly because we just don’t want to wait any longer. Only my Maid/Matron of Honor, 1 good friend and my 14 year old son will know. I’m so giddy!!! lol
