Title says it all. I’m not an anxious person, per se, but i’m EMOTIONAL. I cry about everything. literally. weddings just murder me. a friend of a friend took an atavan the morning of her wedding and apparently it calmed her enough to be relaxed and not be super crazy emotional.
has anyone done this? or planning on discussing this with their doctor? (i obviously am not talking about illegally acquiring prescription meds)

I’m anxious, and I did get emotional. I didn’t take anything though because it was my wedding day 🙂 I wanted my emotionals to be all natural

I haven’t, but I was just in a wedding where the bride did so. Her wedding was pretty big and fancy and took place at the top of stairs (kinda nerve racking!). It really helped calm her before the ceremony. She still cried during her vows, so it didn’t take away from the emotional aspect of the wedding. My wedding is going to be much smaller, so I doubt I will need to!

@mu_t: I’m the same way. I come from a long line of criers. I’m not even engaged yet and as I plan my wedding in my head, I make myself cry sometimes thinking about the walk down the aisle or dancing with my dad and stepdad. When I get married, I will be ugly-crying ALL. DAY. So I think it would not be a bad idea for me to take a little something to calm me down. My SO has an actual anxiety disorder so HE’LL be on his regular meds I’m sure. I don’t see anything wrong with discussing it with your doctor. They can prescribe a super low dose of something and you can test it out sometime before the wedding so you know how it’ll effect you. (i.e. if you won’t be yourself or too zombie-fied you might not want to take them on the day)
Or do like megz06 did and just let the tears fly! (just designate a Bridesmaid or Best Man or friend to be your makeup checker / toucher-upper

Well, I kind of take it every day, lol. But I’m sure I’ll be avoiding coffee like the plague, no need for extra jitters

I just imagine what happened in Sixteen Candles…

@mu_t: I might take something! I’m already super hormonal and emotional, so I’d like to tone it down if I can to enjoy the day. I’m a control freak so the littlest thing going wrong will stress me out.

@distracts: haha me too! i would have to take it for a test drive before the actual day.
ok glad i’m not alone in considering this. like PP have said, i wouldn’t want to numb the emotions or anything… i want my joy to come across! i just don’t want to be in the fetal position on the floor bawling like a psychopath (it’s been known to happen during father daughter dances).

I have Xanax for my occasional panic attacks lol… I will be so nervous and freak out if everyone is staring at me. (you can’t really avoid that being the bride ha!) so I typically take 1/2 a Xanax to calm myself before parties or concerts– I may do a whole on the day of the wedding to avoid shaking like a leaf & feeling faint!

I took alcohol. does that count??

@distracts: lol. I think I would be afraid of being sleepy. I wouldn’t risk it.

@iarebridezilla: We are doing it at an AI resort so I will be taking a few doses of this as well!
