- Wedding: July 2014
I have small fingers (a size 4) and we had to have my e-ring sized down twice so far (we replaced my original ring due to issues with the pave stones in the setting). I don’t have big knuckles but the bottom part of my finger where the ring sits is very tiny. Originally, when the ring was a 4.25, it went over my knuckle easily and spun like crazy. A size 4 takes some elbow grease to get on and off (literally, I use soap or lotion) but it finally doesn’t spin! It doesn’t look tight and I can still spin it around easily if I wanted to (so no sausage finger). It’s so much more comfortable fitting this way! Victory!
However, what do I do during the ring exchange at the ceremony? I want to order my wedding band in a size 4 (which is a custom order) to avoid having it wider/uncomfortable (the milgrain detailing used to dig into the sides of my fingers from my ering when it was too big) vs. ordering it in the wrong size and then having to ship it out for sizing following the wedding.
Has anyone used a decoy for the ring exchange? Where did you get it? Will I be able to get one small enough that it won’t slip right off (as I said, size 4)?
Also, I used to remove my ring to sleep/shower/do dishes/clean/paint/everything but now I’m wondering if it’s going to wear/warp the prongs of the pave side stones to be pushing so hard. Is it better to just sleep in them vs. tugging them on and off twice a day?
