As I am sure is the case with many, but the budget is getting blown already! So many little details here and there are adding up… soo I am looking into ways to save some money. Friend/BM has family member in the paul mitchel school. Thinking of asking her and a few fellow students to come do hair/makeup, at least for bridal party. I figure they are young, totally with the times as far as whats new and happening… could be great.. and I think a lot cheaper! Anyone ever use beauty school students to do hair/makeup??

I have a trial at a beauty academy next week. Their facebook page has some good looks but I’m still wary. I figured for $60 I can always do the trial and if nothing else, it’s one more opportunity to play with hair. Worse case scenario, I just go to a Paul Mitchell salon and do an updo day of. One thing I will say is that the students were I will be going are under supervision the whole time. I think I would be a little more nervous if they were just on their own.

I haven’t gone to one for a wedding, but I will say that I’ve had better haircut experiences with a student that a “real” salon stylist. My recommendation to to find students that work well for you- ask around and do a trial, like you were planning.

Yeah, I had a friend who’s in cosmetology school do my hair and makeup. It turned out really wonderfully! She didn’t do anything craaaazy – waterfall braid half updo and fairly light makeup – but it was cheap and looked 1000% better than what I would have bumbled through.

I would be scared to do it for my wedding. BUT… I did have them do my makeup before for another event and it turned out awesome! Maybe do a trial run first for your makeup and go from there.

Two of my bridesmaids did it for my wedding! They had used beauty school students before the wedding (for other events) and then chose to go that route for my wedding day. They looked beautiful and it only cost them like $15 each. They just said that they had to be really specific with what they wanted, and it all turned out well! 🙂

Definitely try a trial with the girls you wanna use first. I’ve gone through beauty school and lemme tell you were a couple awesome girls, mostly good girls, and a lot of terrible girls. I’d hate for you to have average hair and make up for your wedding. Trial first!
