I love Boston in July! :) Are you doing it in the city or outside the city?
We are doing it at the Andover Country Club in Andover MA and the Church is in Wakefield MA. We really wanted to do something downtown Boston but I have too much family in NH that have no idea how to get around Boston so started possing a lot of problems!
I am a July 2009 bride. I think its a great time to get married in Boston!!!
katrinab, you getting married in the Boston area? How is your planning coming?! Any do's or donts??
Yup, getting married downtown Boston :) A definite do is to bargain--I kinda figured as I started this process that in a city like Boston, prices were non-negotiable. But as soon as I tried it worked! Got the DJ to come down a bit, florist to meet my budget, and many potential ceremony musicians dropped their prices. It never hurts to say that you really like them, but unfortunately your budget is X and see what happens.
Another do is look for musicians and photogs through colleges. We put out ads through Berklee, Boston Conservatory and New England School of Photography and got TONS of responses from both students and alumni. Our photographers are recent grads of NESOP and totally great, and given they are looking to build repertoire the price is a bargain and they are super enthusiastic.
Where are you in the planning process?
Wow thats awesome! We really wanted to do that but we have too much family in NH that would never come if it was in downtown. I'm jealous! haha We are having the church in Wakefield, MA and the reception at Andover Country Club! We also splurged on our photographer because I'm very much a picture person, I love scrapbooking and have like a million photo albums. My friends call me the the paparizzi because I take a million pictures everywhere we go! lol We went with Daniel Doke Photography!
I'm very excited about our videographer! Well Spun Weddings! They are great! and their prices aren't bad compared to others!
Wow I am super impressed how much you've booked! We had a year and a half engagement, and I think one of the perks is that you get stuff done early, so things are less stressful closer to the date. Five months out now, we only really have invites and the little details and stress is super low
Katrinab! I have to agree we have a 1year and a 1/2 still to plan (we had a two year engagement!) and its the way to go. No Stess, take your time, and just book things one at a time so you aren't overwhelmed when it gets closer to your wedding!
I'm loving my long term stress free engagement. It was pretty necessary for us because I am not on the east coast right now for a few months due to work but in the end it's totally going to be worth it.
Katrinab - your attitude is exactly how I want to feel when I'm 5 months away from my wedding. Congrats!
I recommended the 2 year engagement plan to my 3 best friends (who are guys) it is soo the way to go or at least have a year and a half, you can actually enjoy being engaged! I have several friends who had a year or less and they are soo stressed!
